Job Description

We are looking for a driven scientist to lead the development of integrated biocatalytic processes for semi-synthetic small-molecule APIs. This role will focus on designing efficient one-pot enzymatic systems and translating lab-scale reactions into scalable, pilot-ready processes.

What You’ll Do

• Design and optimize multi-step enzymatic reaction cascades for API synthesis, including coupling of core scaffolds with functional side-chain donors.
• Develop and evaluate advanced solvent and media systems (e.g., aqueous biphasic systems, ionic liquids) to enhance selectivity, yield, and productivity.
• Implement in situ product removal (ISPR) strategies and enzyme immobilization techniques to improve space-time yield, catalyst stability, and reusability.
• Translate bench-scale reactions into controlled reactor operations (1–5 L scale), supporting process scale-up and robustness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process integration and techno-economic evaluations.
• Generate high-quality experimental data, process documentation, and technical reports.

What We’re Looking For

• PhD in a relevant discipline (Biochemical/Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related) with a minimum of 3+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience; OR MTech/MSc with 7+ years of relevant industry experience in biocatalysis or enzymatic process development.
• Strong track record in enzyme-catalyzed synthesis for APIs, fine chemicals, or related industries
• Expertise in reaction optimization, enzyme stability, and process development
• Experience with immobilized enzymes, heterogeneous biocatalysis, or continuous/packed-bed reactor systems is a strong advantage
• Ability to translate lab-scale processes into scalable manufacturing solutions.
