Who we are looking for:

The Commercial Support Officer is a practical, hands-on entry-level commercial role supporting the day-to-day operations and growth of our AFRIpads and So Sure (consumer) brands in Nairobi. The role combines sales and customer development with stock, orders, dispatch, invoicing, record keeping and general operational support.

We are looking for someone who is commercially curious, trustworthy, reliable, organised and energetic, and who enjoys being part of a small team where everyone gets involved in different activities. This is a role for someone who wants to build a career in sales and business development, while being willing to take responsibility for the practical administrative and operational work that keeps the business running.

The role reports to the Head of Sales and works closely with the Head of Finance & Administration and wider AFRIpads team.

More about the job:

We are seeking a dependable, proactive and commercially minded Commercial Support Officer to join our Nairobi team.

AFRIpads and So Sure are growing their presence in Kenya, and this role will help turn that growth into well-managed day-to-day commercial activity. You will be an important link between customers, the sales team, finance and Nairobi operations.

A significant part of the role will involve supporting customer enquiries and smaller sales opportunities, following up with prospects and customers, preparing quotations and sales documentation, and gradually taking more ownership of smaller B2B opportunities. At the same time, you will be responsible for practical tasks such as keeping stock and dispatches organised, supporting invoicing, maintaining accurate records and helping resolve day-to-day operational issues.

Because we are a small team, flexibility and attitude are very important. You should be comfortable moving between customer-facing work, sales administration, stock and dispatch, invoicing and other practical tasks during the same day. The role is designed to give the right person broad exposure to the commercial cycle and, based on performance and business needs, the opportunity to develop towards a Junior Business Developer role.

Key responsibilities:

1. Sales and Customer Development

  • Support smaller customer orders, sales enquiries and B2B business development activities.
  • Respond to customers and prospects through phone, WhatsApp, email and in person, and follow up on straightforward requests and agreed actions.
  • Research prospective customers and organisations and support basic lead generation and prospect follow-up.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals and other basic sales documentation when required.
  • Maintain accurate customer information and support the sales team in keeping the sales pipeline and follow-up actions up to date.
  • Gradually take ownership of smaller sales opportunities and customer accounts as capability develops.
  • Support preparation for customer meetings and participate in meetings, customer visits and other commercial activities where relevant.

2. Orders, Stock, Invoicing and Dispatch

  • Keep accurate and up-to-date stock records for AFRIpads and So Sure products and support monitoring of stock levels.
  • Prepare customer orders and coordinate dispatches with couriers and other delivery partners.
  • Ensure orders are correctly packed, documented and dispatched on time.
  • Follow up on deliveries and flag any issues or delays.
  • Provide Finance with the information and documentation required for invoicing and support the preparation and follow-up of straightforward invoices and customer documentation.
  • Support physical stock counts and help identify and resolve day-to-day stock, order fulfilment and operational issues.

3. So Sure Brand and Market Activation Support

  • Provide practical support for So Sure consumer brand activities, promotions and market activations.
  • Prepare products, stock and materials for events and activations.
  • Support the team with logistics before, during and after activities, including transport, stock and materials coordination where required.
  • Help record sales, stock movement, customer feedback and other relevant information from activations.
  • Be willing to represent the AFRIpads and So Sure brands in a friendly and professional way during consumer-facing activities.

4. Administration, Records & Commercial Support

  • Maintain organised physical and digital customer, sales, stock and operational records.
  • Enter and update sales, stock, customer and order information accurately.
  • Support basic Excel reporting, data management and sales tracking.
  • Ensure relevant documents are filed correctly and easy to find, including customer, sales, order, dispatch and invoicing records.
  • Support preparation of customer meetings, presentations and other commercial materials where required.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the Nairobi team and take on other practical tasks as needed in a small and growing office.

Who you are:

  • You are commercially curious and interested in developing a career in sales and business development.
  • You are trustworthy and reliable and take responsibility for your work.
  • You follow through on what you say you will do and can be trusted to handle tasks independently. You have a “get things done” attitude and are willing to help wherever needed.
  • You are organised and naturally like keeping information, stock and processes in order.
  • You have good energy and a positive attitude and enjoy working with customers and other people.
  • You are curious and flexible and don’t mind switching between different types of work during the day.
  • You have practical computer skills and can demonstrate experience using Excel, Google Drive, email and WhatsApp; familiarity with ERP or CRM systems is an advantage.
  • You are able to keep accurate records, pay attention to detail and handle routine administrative tasks reliably.
  • You have a bachelor’s degree or diploma in business, commerce, marketing, sales or a related field.
  • 2 years of relevant experience is welcome. Experience in sales support, customer service, administration, stock management, operations or a similar role is an advantage, but we are more interested in the right person and attitude than a perfect CV.
  • Good written and spoken English & Swahili is required

What do we offer:

  • A competitive compensation package based on experience.
  • The opportunity to work with a lively and passionate social enterprise team.
  • A varied, hands-on role where you can learn about sales, operations, consumer brands and social impact with opportunities for growth.
  • Coaching and development from the AFRIpads commercial team, with potential progression towards a Junior Business Developer role based on performance and business needs.
  • Daily lunch at the office on Riverside Drive.
  • Airtime and required work tools (laptop, phone).
