The Team
The Production team at Ambercycle is expanding its ecosystem of partners within the polyester textile industry, focusing on developing strategic partnerships with textile mills, yarn, and fabric manufacturers globally.
The Job
Ambercycle is on the lookout for a Deputy General Manager - Commercial and Business Development to spearhead our entry and growth in new markets, focusing on the innovative application of decarbonized materials. This pivotal role encompasses the development of strategic partnerships, exploration of new market opportunities, and bolstering our footprint in essential sectors. The ideal candidate will bring a global perspective, skilled in navigating intricate business landscapes, adept at identifying and cultivating partnerships, and proficient in project and relationship management.
Who You Might Be
You will lead the commercialization of Ambercycle's technologies and process plants worldwide. You will partner with senior leadership on the development and implementation of Ambercycle’s strategy, annual operating plans, and guide department heads toward making decisions that maximize achievement of operational goals. You will utilize your expertise and knowledge to develop, implement, and communicate strategy, create execution plans, gather data on the effectiveness of these strategies, and continually iterate and refine. You will help improve daily functions, build processes based on business goals, and measure the efficiency of these processes.
Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership Discovery & Development:
- Lead the identification and vetting of potential partners, ensuring alignment with Ambercycle's strategic objectives and core values.
- Spearhead the initiation and progression of joint venture projects, emphasizing the creation of strong, reciprocal partnerships.
- This includes mapping the value chain and ecosystem to identify and capitalize on opportunities for collaboration and growth.
Negotiation & Ecosystem Integration:
- Act as Ambercycle's primary negotiator, articulating the benefits and integration of decarbonized materials into potential partners' operations.
- This role involves being the main point of contact for establishing and fostering strategic partnerships, which could lead to significant business moves, including acquisitions and involvement in M&A corporate development activities.
Market Expansion & Relationship Management:
- Discover new partners, attend industry conferences, and participate in trade shows, thereby widening Ambercycle's network and presence in the market.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with key partners, ensuring ongoing engagement, mutual growth, and the successful execution of joint ventures and collaborative initiatives.
Operational Excellence & Team Leadership:
- Oversee the governance of partnerships and joint ventures, ensuring they are in strategic alignment with Ambercycle's mission and operational standards.
- Manage projects from start to finish, ensuring they meet strategic goals and deadlines.
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation to drive business development initiatives to success.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, economics, finance or related field.
  • 8+ years of business development experience, ideally in the materials sector, with a successful track record in market expansion and partnerships.
  • 6+ years of proven project management abilities, from initiation to execution, aligned with strategic goals.
  • 6+ years of experience with business models, strategic planning, and global market dynamics.

  • Readiness to travel extensively for partnership development and market exploration.
  • Leadership skills to foster team collaboration and drive commercial strategy success.

  • Experienced in strategic business planning, quantitative analysis, and conceptualization.
  • Efficient in producing high-quality work within tight deadlines.
  • Solid business acumen and commercial insight with sound judgment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Results-driven and proactive approach to tasks.
  • High standards for work output, ownership, and accountability.
  • Outstanding presentation skills and ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Previous experience in a high-growth company is a plus.
  • Professional demeanor for effective stakeholder interaction and cross-functional alignment.
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
