About the position
Ampd Energy is seeking a Field Service Enigneer to oversee the operation and after-sales service of our products in Australia. You will be working under the Service department, managing the tier 1&2 level of support - delivering, installing, training, maintaining, and repairing our products at customer sites by our third-party field engineering partners. You will also be expected to provide the tier 2 level of support (remote and on-site) when escalated. This would include about 30% travel. You will be working closely with the sales team and engineering team to ensure that product reliability and customer experience remains positive. In addition to the main duties, you will assist in managing the overall product design to fit the regulatory requirements of the region sold in. As a technical support engineer, you are expected to demonstrate clear and professional communication to customers about the products.
You will report to the Director of Service and will mainly be working remotely. You are expected to travel around to customer sites Australia where needed, sometimes in off-hours. You will also be expected to make occasional visits to our field warehouse.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate and excited about working with new innovative and environmental technologies. What you need:

  • Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Living in the areas of Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne preferred
  • Good knowledge of industrial electrical theory and installation techniques
  • Good knowledge and understanding of national electrical code
  • 3-5 years experience with installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and electronic systems
  • Experience with the use of multimeters, current clamp probes, megger testers, and ground loop impedance testers
  • Understanding of control systems and firmware architecture.
  • Ability to educate and train others. Supervisory experience is a plus
  • Ability to work well independently
  • Excellent planning and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) internally and externally facing clients

What you will do:

  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of the product
  • Conduct inspections and troubleshoot issues remotely and at the customer site
  • Diagnose issues and help solve root causes
  • Collect and analyze data regarding the product reliability, usability, efficiency, and performance.
  • Perform hardware and software tests on the products.
  • Manage professional relationships with customers and field engineering partners.
  • Train internal and external teams to support and troubleshoot the product.
  • Create and revise test documents and reports (SOP’s, datasheets, etc.)
