Role Summary
We are seeking a Head of Product with deep experience in SaaS, B2B, and emerging market contexts to lead the next chapter of Angaza’s product development. This is a pivotal leadership role that will drive the product strategy, define and communicate a compelling vision, and build a high-performing product team across Nairobi and San Francisco.

You’ll join at a moment of renewed investment and energy in product, with full support from company leadership to shift from a delivery-driven model to a truly product-led organization. You’ll have the opportunity to lead a high-impact product team and you’ll work directly with the Managing Director and other senior leaders to ensure Angaza is building the right solutions for long-term impact and growth.

Angaza is a fully remote team, with hubs in Kenya and the US. We hold in-office team meetings once every month. This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya and will report to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities
  • Strategy & Vision: Own and evolve Angaza’s product strategy. Ensure it aligns with company goals, market shifts, and customer needs.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a distributed team of PMs, designers, and researchers over time. Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Product Development: Drive a discovery-to-delivery product process that centers on user outcomes. Collaborate deeply with engineering, design, and data teams.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to ensure product launches are successful and GTM efforts are aligned.
  • Customer & Market Insight: Embed user research, product analytics, and partner feedback into every stage of product development.
  • Execution: Prioritize ruthlessly, track progress against OKRs, and ensure accountability and learning across product initiatives.
  • Change Management: Lead the transition toward a more product-led culture, supporting adoption of better practices across teams.

Required Skills, Attributes & Experience
  • Experience: 7+ years in product management with at least 2–3 years in product leadership roles. Experience with SaaS platforms, B2B products, or emerging market contexts is required.
  • Leadership: Proven success hiring, mentoring, and growing product teams, including product managers, designers, and researchers.
  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to craft product strategy and translate it into actionable plans.
  • Execution Focus: Excellent organizational skills and experience leading complex initiatives across teams.
  • Data-Driven: Brings a strong data-driven mindset to product leadership. Experienced in defining and using metrics, KPIs, and product analytics to guide strategy and decision-making. Comfortable working with both quantitative and qualitative data to drive insights and continuous improvement.
  • Communication: Skilled at communicating product vision and decisions to diverse stakeholders — from execs to engineers to end users.
  • Empathy: Deep understanding of user needs, particularly in resource-constrained or low-connectivity environments.
  • Technical Fluency: Comfortable engaging with engineering and design on technical topics and tradeoffs.
Personal Attributes
  • Mission-Driven: Passionate about building meaningful, life-changing products in underserved markets.
  • Collaborative: Thrives in cross-functional settings and diverse, international teams.
  • Resilient: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, making hard trade-offs, and leading through change.
  • Hands-On: Willing to dive into details and roll up your sleeves when needed.
