About Better Dairy:

Better Dairy is building the future of food by producing molecularly identical dairy without using any animals. This allows us to provide consumers with delicious, nutritious and versatile dairy products without harmful effects to the planet and animals. By utilizing a series of technologies, including precision fermentation, we are rebuilding dairy from the ground up. Our products melt, stretch, pour and pop with umami like their originals just without lactose, antibiotics and hormones.

What you'll be doing:

We are searching for an experienced Associate Scientist to join our Analytics team. The role holder must undertake analytical characterisation to support Scientific, Biochemistry and Product Development teams meet their R&D objectives - these include the design, fermentation and purification of dairy proteins as well as cheese production. You will therefore work on a variety of projects, across areas like synthetic biology, bioprocessing and food science at Better Dairy.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your technical skillset, particularly in the application of analytical techniques on biochemical and food samples.

The successful candidate will have a pioneering spirit, be well suited to working in a start-up environment, and appreciate the synergistic solutions to challenges that interdisciplinary teams generate.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Scientists to provide innovative analytical solutions to support projects across R&D, often working to tight deadlines and flexible requirements.
  • Analysis and equipment maintenance, including HPLC, GC-MS, XRF.
  • Preparing accurate records of experimental protocols and results.
  • Contributing to a high performance team culture.

What experience you'll need:

  • BSc with 1+ years lab experience or MSc with experimental thesis in Bioanalytics, Analytical Chemistry or any other relevant area.
  • Hands-on experience in a chromatographic technique (minimum ~6 months).
  • Confidence in buffers and solution preparation.
  • Good communication and numeracy skills.

Desirable Experience:

  • General knowledge on Food or Biochemical sample treatment.
