System Test Engineer

You are based in our Liege or Eindhoven office and are part of the engineering team. You are responsible for integration-, system-level and end-to-end testing for Bloomlife medical devices, covering hardware and software testing. You take an active role in defining test protocols and test cases based on relevant medical device standards and our own verification plans. You execute them diligently. You think strategically about testing. You enjoy manual testing but know to set up automated testing where it improves efficiency. You interact with the engineering teams to shorten the loop between development and testing. You follow agile development, and define sprints in close collaboration with product and engineering leads to quickly iterate and improve the product.
Your responsibilities:
- You are responsible for integration, system and end-to-end testing for Bloomlife’s medical devices
- You create test protocols and test cases that cover all system and user requirements, including relevant medical device standards
- You execute tests and document them in verification reports
- You analyze test results, detect issues and report them in the defect management tracking tool
- You follow-up with engineers on issues that needs to be fixed and work collaboratively to resolve them
- You write test scripts and set-up automated testing when and where necessary
- You are responsible for assembling and testing device prototypes that are used in clinical studies
- You are responsible for testing and qualifying test equipment and tools, and maintain a test infrastructure that meets our quality standards
You’re an engineer passionate about applying your knowledge and skills to building products and services that impact pregnant women’s lives. You have experience in hardware and software testing for medical devices. You enjoy working in high paced environments, and get your motivation from seeing your work deployed in the field and used by future moms and doctors. You’re curious. You show creative thinking and continuously come up with ideas and strategies to improve your work. You play for the team. You take pride in delivering high quality results on time.
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- M.Sc. in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent through experience
- 1+ year experience as a test or quality assurance engineer in the medical device industry
- Experience with integration-, system-level and end-to-end testing
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills
Additionally, it will help to have:
- Experience with IEC 62304 or working within a quality management system
- Experience with devices for electrophysiological measurement (e.g., ECG or EEG devices)
- Experience developing test scrips in Python, MATLAB or other programming languages
- Experience with commercial medical device products
