We are looking for a multidisciplinary attorney who will help manage the varied legal components of Cultivo Land PBC (“Cultivo”).

As the Assistant General Counsel / Corporate Counsel, you will provide legal advice, counsel, support, and guidance to Cultivo’s General Counsel and to a variety of teams at Cultivo in Mexico, the U.S., the UK, and beyond. You will also engage with a wide range of external counterparties and partners around the world.

This role demands a proactive, knowledgeable, and versatile legal professional who can handle complex situations and provide pragmatic solutions in an international context. The successful candidate will work with a world-class team that moves at speed and strives for maximum impact.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For in a Candidate

  • At least 3 to 5 years of general commercial legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house position
  • Extensive experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
  • Some experience with financing and investment agreements, fund structures, employment law, intellectual property law, and/or corporate governance
  • Ability to communicate complex legal concepts concisely, clearly and effectively
  • Strong risk management skills.
  • Success working with multiple, overlapping stakeholders and counterparties from different regions of the world and with different objectives
  • Familiarity with the voluntary carbon credit market and the related registries and standards bodies preferred but not necessary.
  • Must be fluent (written and spoken) in Spanish and English.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including services agreements, supplier and vendor agreements, landowner agreements, and agreements with government entities
  • Drafting and negotiating financing and investment agreements; navigating fund and special purpose vehicle structures;
  • Advising on employment-related legal matters, including employee contracts and compliance with labor laws
  • Protecting and managing the company's intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights
  • Managing and implementing Cultivo’s AML and anti-corruption policies, among others
  • Advising on and managing data protection and cybersecurity matters
  • Assisting in general corporate governance matters
  • Collaborating with dozens of diverse stakeholders and counterparties, including landowners, project developers, auditors, suppliers, ranchers, regulatory bodies, scientists, consultants, local communities, large corporations, and investors.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Licenciatura en Derecho plus any additional necessary graduate law degrees (such as an LLM).
  • Equivalent of bar admittance.
