Job Description

Position Description:

We are seeking an innovative and experienced Product Marketing and Communication Lead to drive our product marketing strategies, enhance our brand presence, and streamline our communication efforts across our Opcos in Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda. This role requires a creative strategist with a proven track record in product marketing and brand management. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop impactful marketing materials, execute product launches, and ensure cohesive brand messaging across all regions.

Role and Responsibilities

Product Marketing:

  1. Develop and Execute Product Launch Strategies:

a) Create and manage comprehensive product launch plans, including launch offers, timelines, marketing materials, and communication strategies for all Opcos.

b) Develop product launch decks and supporting documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.

c) Collaborate with design and product teams to create compelling product packaging and promotional content.

  1. Create Marketing Materials and Product Documentation:

a) Develop detailed product spec sheets, brochures, and data sheets that clearly communicate product features and benefits.

b) Ensure all marketing materials are up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with brand guidelines across all regions.

  1. Implement Product Training Programs:

a) Develop and deliver training modules to educate internal teams, partners, and customers on product features and benefits.

b) Coordinate with Product development team to ensure training content is accurate and engaging.

c) Organize and ensure training sessions across Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda using both online and offline methods.

Brand Management and Communication:

  1. Refine and Enforce Brand Guidelines:

a) Continuously update and enforce brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all marketing channels and materials in all Opcos.

b) Train internal teams on brand standards and monitor adherence.

  1. Consumer Engagement and Storytelling:

a) Plan and execute consumer photoshoots to create high-quality visuals showcasing product usage.

b) Collect and curate consumer stories to build authentic brand narratives and enhance emotional connections with the audience.

  1. Develop Marketing Merchandise:

a) Design and coordinate the production of marketing merchandise that aligns with product offerings and enhances brand visibility.

b) Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure high-quality merchandise production.

Market Analysis and Competitive Bench marking:

  1. Monitor Market Trends and Competitor Activities:

a) Track new product launches, pricing strategies, and marketing tactics of competitors in each Opco.

b) Analyze market data to identify opportunities and threats, and adjust marketing strategies accordingly.

  1. Develop Competitive Strategies:

a) Use insights from market analysis to develop competitive pricing and merchandising strategies.

b) Create and implement marketing campaigns that highlight product differentiators.

Event and Campaign Management:

  1. Plan and Manage Industry Events:

a) Strategically plan and execute the company’s presence at trade shows, fairs, and industry events.

b) Coordinate logistics, booth design, and promotional activities to maximize event impact.

  1. Oversee Marketing Campaigns:

a) Develop and execute marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

b) Monitor campaign performance and make data-driven adjustments to optimize results.

Public Relations and Communication:

  1. Develop and Implement PR Strategies:

a) Work with the PR team to create strategies that enhance brand image and product visibility.

b) Develop press releases, media kits, and other PR materials to support product launches and brand initiatives.

  1. Manage Media Relations:

a) Build and maintain relationships with key media contacts in all regions.

b) Ensure timely and effective dissemination of press releases and media communications.


Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as a marketing executive or any other similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree (MBA) preferred.
  • Proven experience in product marketing, brand management, and communications (5+ years).
  • Proven ability of working in cross-functional, multi-culture teams.
  • Strong understanding of marketing strategies, tools, and techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in marketing software and tools such as PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, and CRM systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial 'getting things done' attitude, demonstrating great intuition, pragmatic decision-making and backing your ideas with data.
  • Thrive in a startup / scale-up environment and love dealing with fast pace, changing needs, and limited resources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with Agile methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience working in diverse markets and should be willing to travel extensively (even to remote locations).
