Job Description
The Logistics Officer is responsible for coordinating the timely, accurate, safe and cost-effective movement of products and related materials into, between and out of d.light Zambia's warehouses and stocking locations. The role owns day-to-day shipment tracking, dispatch coordination, transport documentation, proof-of-delivery closure, logistics reporting and follow-up with internal teams and third-party service providers. The incumbent ensures that every movement is authorized, traceable, properly documented and escalated promptly when delays, losses, damages or discrepancies occur.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Inbound Logistics & Receiving: Coordinate suppliers, transporters and internal teams to ensure timely deliveries, accurate documentation, efficient offloading and prompt reporting of shortages, damages or other shipment discrepancies.
- Dispatch & Distribution: Coordinate stock transfers and deliveries from picking through dispatch and proof of delivery, ensuring accurate documentation, shipment tracking and efficient route and load planning.
- Transporter & Vendor Coordination: Manage transporter and courier information, quotations, service performance, documentation, invoices and resolution of delivery issues or claims.
- Inventory Movement Controls: Ensure physical stock movements align with approved system transactions and documentation, maintaining accurate movement records and product traceability.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure loading, transportation and handling activities comply with company safety, security, licensing and product-handling requirements.
- Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Track shipments, delivery performance, logistics costs, PODs and exceptions; prepare regular reports and identify opportunities to improve service levels, controls and cost efficiency.

Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Business Administration or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in logistics, distribution, transport coordination, warehouse operations or supply chain execution.
- Experience in a multi-location, last-mile distribution, consumer durables, solar, FMCG, telecommunications or similar environment is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of inbound logistics, dispatch planning, route coordination, proof-of-delivery management, reverse logistics and transporter administration.
- Understanding of stock-movement controls, serialised inventory and the separation of physical custody, transaction processing and approval responsibilities.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills; experience with ERP, warehouse, inventory or CRM systems is an advantage.
- Sound commercial judgment, cost consciousness and the ability to verify quotations, rates, invoices and supporting documents.
- Strong organisational, prioritisation, problem-solving and follow-through skills, with high attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication, tactful stakeholder management and the confidence to escalate risks promptly.
- High integrity, ownership and reliability, with the ability to remain calm and accurate under operational pressure.
- Willingness to work in warehouse and field environments, travel when required and support occasional extended-hour receiving or dispatch activities.
- A valid driver's licence is an added advantage.
