Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Equipment Engineer to join our equipment and manufacturing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with experience in equipment design, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. You will play a key role in commissioning new production lines, supporting equipment vendors, and ensuring smooth equipment operations across global sites. The ideal candidate enjoys solving practical problems, working on-site with automation systems, and communicating across cultures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical equipment integration into lithium battery manufacturing lines.
  • Collaborate with global teams and suppliers during equipment FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), especially in China preparing shipments to the U.S.
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting, adjustment, and maintenance support for pilot-line and production-line equipment.
  • Document and track equipment issues and resolutions for future reference and continuous operations improvement.
  • Assist with installation, layout design, and optimization of mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate with process engineers to align equipment capabilities with production goals.
  • Report technical findings clearly to internal teams and external vendors.
  • Ensure safe and effective equipment operation in compliance with internal protocols.

Within two months, you will:

  • Travel to China to participate in equipment FAT and training.
  • Develop familiarity with EGI’s pilot line equipment and support integration in the U.S.
  • Participate in cross-functional troubleshooting and mechanical optimization efforts.

Within four months, you will:

  • Lead mechanical setup and commissioning activities for new equipment in the U.S.
  • Develop SOPs for equipment operation and preventive maintenance.
  • Serve as a key technical point of contact for select vendor equipment platforms.

Qualifications

Required:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical equipment design, troubleshooting, or maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally, including to China.

Preferred:

  • Experience in lithium battery, semiconductor, or automation equipment.
  • Ability to speak Chinese (reading and writing not required).
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and mechanical drawings.
  • Basic understanding of electrical control systems and industrial safety.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Willingness to work in lab, pilot line, or factory environments.
  • Ability to lift moderate weights and work on/around industrial machinery.
  • Occasional travel to overseas vendor sites (up to 20% especially early in role).
