Position Summary: The Field Services Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing Francis Energy’s national field service operations. This role oversees a team of EV Service Technicians who perform installations, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs at charging station sites. The Field Services Manager ensures operational excellence by managing technician scheduling, field service partnership management, route optimization, performance monitoring, and customer service delivery. This individual plays a key role in maximizing network uptime, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and enhancing customer satisfaction through responsive and reliable field service execution.
Leadership & Development:
- Manage, supervise, and mentor Field Service Technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate field employees to ensure technical proficiency and adherence to Francis Energy’s operational standards.
- Conduct regular team meetings and field audits to ensure compliance and quality performance.
Operational Management:
- Plan and coordinate technician scheduling, dispatching, and work assignments across multiple states to ensure optimal coverage and efficiency.
- Oversee daily service operations, including preventive maintenance, equipment installations/commissionings, and repairs.
- Develop and implement service guidelines, standard operating procedures, and documentation practices.
- Collaborate with Asset Management, Construction, and Network Operations teams to ensure seamless issue resolution and station reliability.
- Proactively utilize technicians to optimize 3rd party service campaigns when relevant.
- Provide timely updates and reporting to relevant team members to gauge performance.
Customer & Partner Relations
- Manage service contracts and partner relationships to ensure adherence to performance metrics and service level agreements.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns promptly, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and trust.
- Gather and analyze feedback from field teams and customers to drive service improvements.
Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all field work is conducted in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and Francis Energy safety standards.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of hours and costs associated with field service technicians.
- Maintain accurate commissioning records, service records, maintenance records, incident reports, and equipment logs.
- Champion a proactive approach to safety, quality control, and preventative maintenance across all sites.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related technical field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 5+ years of experience in field service operations, facilities management, or maintenance management.
- Proven leadership experience managing field teams in a distributed service environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, mechanical maintenance, or EV infrastructure preferred.
- Experience with scheduling software, route optimization tools, and CRM/service management platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the EV charging, renewable energy, or utility services sector.
- Working knowledge of NEVI-funded projects, federal reporting, or asset compliance.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and asset performance tracking systems.
- Demonstrated success in managing geographically dispersed technical teams.
