Project
After successfully building a prototype proof-of-concept dome, securing seed funding, and with our first flagship build underway, we are hiring key team members to help us with the next leg of the journey: developing novel manufacturing technology to scale our pilot production factory in Nevada City, California.
Role
Geoship is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to help build, run, and improve our Pilot Production line. This is a hands-on role: you'll build, test, and refine molds, equipment, and parts on the shop floor. You'll work closely with our manufacturing engineers and other teams across the company.
Day to day, the work ranges from making molds, landing equipment, and running material trials to installing newly designed parts onto prototypes and building out our new manufacturing facility. This is a startup environment where priorities and processes change quickly, so you'll need the ability and desire to learn new skills fast and implement them in a professional manner. Description
Mold & Tooling Fabrication: Build, modify, and maintain molds, jigs, and fixtures used in ceramic panel production.Mold & Tooling Fabrication: Build, modify, and maintain molds, jigs, and fixtures used in ceramic panel production.Equipment Setup & Maintenance: Install, plumb, wire, and maintain production equipment including pumps, mixers, and material conveyance systems. Perform preventive maintenance and keep equipment running.Production Operations: Run production processes following work instructions, including material mixing, pumping, casting, and demolding.R&D Support: Help set up and run experiments and trials on materials and pumping processes, and accurately record data and observations.Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues on the line; escalate problems and suggest improvements.Quality Checks: Inspect parts and processes against specifications and flag defects or inconsistencies.Prototype Builds: Assist with the assembly, installation, and integration of manufactured parts on prototype dome builds, including on-site work.Shop Organization & Safety: Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe (5S); follow safety procedures and help improve them.Documentation: Maintain equipment logs, build records, and trial data; help develop and update SOPs.Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical certification is a plus.1 ~ 4 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or a skilled trade.Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.Able to read basic drawings, schematics, and work instructions.Careful, safety-conscious work habits and attention to detail.Good communication skills and ability to take direction and work well on a small team.Proactive, reliable, and comfortable in a fast-changing startup environment.Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a shop environment and on outdoor build sites.Desired Experience
