Job Description
Position objective:
The SVP & Business Head of Commercial & Industrial Rooftop Solar and Related Solar Products at Husk Power Systems will be a senior executive responsible for significantly expanding our market presence and driving profitable growth within the solar segment. This includes a strong focus on forging strategic collaborations with government bodies and large industrial houses to facilitate the setup of distributed solar infrastructure on their premises in both capex and opex models. The objective is to lead the end-to-end business unit, from shaping market strategy and cultivating high-level relationships to overseeing sales, project execution, and ensuring post-installation success, thereby securing Husk Power Systems leadership in distributed renewable energy solutions for key institutional and industrial clients.
Key Responsibilities Include:
The SVP will be accountable for, but not limited to, the following:
- Strategic Business Growth & P&L Leadership:
- Define and execute a robust business strategy for the C&I rooftop and ground-mounted solar segments, emphasizing large-scale deployments through institutional partnerships. Successfully executed a portfolio of 200 MW of solar rooftop and ground-mounted projects for C&I clients.
- Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities, innovative business models, and emerging technologies to strengthen Husk Power Systems’ competitive position and market share. Won and executed at least 50 MW of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with C&I B2B clients.
- Demonstrated ability to secure financing for PPAs and large-scale renewable energy projects.
- Proven experience in the execution of at least 50 MW of Open Access Solar projects in India.
- Government & Industrial House Collaboration & Key Account Management:
- Proactively engage with key government ministries, departments (e.g., Energy, Power, Industry), state-level bodies, and public sector undertakings (PSUs) to understand their energy needs and position Husk Power Systems as a preferred partner for solar infrastructure development.
- Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with decision-makers within large industrial houses, manufacturing conglomerates, and commercial enterprises to identify and secure opportunities for solar rooftop and ground-mounted installations on their premises.
- Drive the acquisition of large, complex C&I projects through strategic partnerships, tenders, and direct negotiations with institutional clients.
- Business Development & Sales Excellence
- Lead business development and sales for the C&I segment, ensuring a strong and sustainable pipeline with industrial and government clients.
- Proven track record of managing over 5 years of PPAs with performance-based outputs and penalties.
- Oversee the complete sales lifecycle — from concept and feasibility to proposal, negotiation, and closure of large-scale projects.
- Drive advanced sales strategies through direct sales, strategic alliances, and channel partnerships tailored to institutional and industrial clients.
- Continuously monitor market trends, competition, and policy shifts to refine go-to-market strategies.
- Project Execution & Operational Oversight
- Ensure efficient and high-quality execution of C&I solar projects from design to commissioning.
Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and project management teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant project delivery. - Demonstrated ability to assess counterparty credit risk and build capable teams for long-term PPA management.
- Drive operational excellence through best practices in efficiency, cost optimization, and quality control.
- Ensure efficient and high-quality execution of C&I solar projects from design to commissioning.
- Policy & Regulatory Engagement:
- Stay abreast of evolving renewable energy policies, regulations, and incentive programs at national and state levels, particularly those impacting C&I and institutional solar projects.
- Work with relevant internal and external stakeholders to advocate for favourable policies and regulations that support the growth of distributed solar.
- Team Leadership & Talent Development:
- Build, inspire, and lead a high-performing team focused on C&I sales, business development, and project delivery, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
- Oversee talent acquisition, performance management, and professional development initiatives to ensure the team's capabilities align with strategic goals.
- Stakeholder Management & Reporting:
- Provide regular, comprehensive reports on business performance, market insights, and strategic progress to the senior leadership team and Board.
- Act as a key representative of Husk Power Systems at high-profile industry events, policy discussions, and client engagements with government and industrial leaders.
Qualifications
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline) is mandatory.
- An MBA or a master’s degree in business administration, Public Policy, Energy Management, or a related field from a globally recognized institution is highly preferred.
Experience: 20-25 years

- Strategic Vision & P&L Acumen: Proven ability to develop and execute complex business strategies, manage large P&L statements, and drive sustainable growth in competitive markets.
- Government & Industrial Relations: Exceptional capability in building and leveraging relationships with high-level government officials, public sector entities, and senior leadership within major industrial corporations.
- Complex Sales & Negotiation: Demonstrated expertise in closing large-scale, long-cycle B2B and B2G sales deals, coupled with superior negotiation and contract management skills.
- Deep Renewable Energy Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the global and regional C&I solar market, including technology trends, financing mechanisms (CAPEX, OPEX, PPA), competitive dynamics, and project development cycles.
- Policy & Regulatory Understanding: Strong grasp of energy policies, regulatory frameworks, and incentive schemes related to solar energy, particularly in the context of C&I and government projects.
- Project Delivery Expertise: Solid understanding of renewable energy project lifecycle management, from concept to commissioning, ensuring adherence to quality, cost, and timeline.
- Team Leadership & People Development: A transformational leader with a track record of recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top talent, fostering a results-driven and innovative team culture.
- Financial & Analytical Proficiency: Strong financial literacy, including experience with project finance, investment analysis, and financial modelling for large infrastructure projects.
- Executive Communication & Influence: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex strategies and influence diverse audiences, from technical teams to government officials and CXO-level clients.
- Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Highly analytical and decisive, with the ability to navigate complex challenges and adapt strategies in a dynamic market environment.
- Extensive Network: A robust existing network within government bodies, industrial sectors, and the broader renewable energy ecosystem.
