Your Mission:

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic professional to join our team as the Director, Global Tax. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of Global Tax will play a critical role in shaping the company's tax strategy and ensuring compliance with tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions. This position will be instrumental in driving the company's financial goals and objectives by overseeing US, Canadian, and global tax planning and providing expert advice on tax matters related to commercial projects, large contracts, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The global tax director will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to optimize tax efficiency and mitigate risk.

Your Day-to-Day Adventures:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive tax planning strategies for US, Canadian, and Australian operations to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns, including provisions and tax reserves, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines.
  • Provide expert guidance on indirect tax matters, including sales tax, VAT, and GST, to ensure compliance and optimize tax savings.
  • Design and implement global tax structures that align with the company's business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide strategic tax advice and support for commercial projects, large contracts, and M&A activities. Assess tax implications and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and legal counsel to leverage specialized expertise and ensure compliance with evolving tax laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities, regulators, and industry peers to stay informed about changes in tax legislation and industry best practices.

Who You Are:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven tax professional with experience in global tax planning and compliance, specifically experience in Canadian, US and Australian tax. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions. You should have a proven track record of developing and implementing tax strategies that drive financial performance and mitigate risk. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to navigate complex tax issues and provide innovative solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external advisors to optimize tax efficiency and ensure compliance. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is crucial for success in this role.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional certification is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in tax planning and compliance, focusing on US and Canadian taxation; experience with Australian tax regulations is a plus.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing tax strategies that drive financial performance and mitigate risk.
  • Strong technical expertise in tax accounting, including provisions, reserves, and indirect tax matters.
  • Experience providing tax advice and support for complex transactions, including commercial projects, large contracts, and M&A.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a team to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, focusing on delivering high-quality results and driving continuous improvement.
