Your Mission

As an Electrical Systems Engineer with a specialization in power generation facilities at Hydrostor, you will play a crucial role in advancing our organization's power generation solutions. Reporting to the engineering manager, you will act as electrical lead on projects and initiatives throughout Hydrostor. This position carries the responsibility of providing electrical expertise to ensure the successful implementation of power generation projects. Your work will be instrumental in shaping the future of sustainable power generation.

Your Day-to-Day Adventures

Electrical Expertise

  • Serve as the electrical advisor for grid-level engineering for projects.
  • Initiate and develop product refinements.
  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) for Hydrostor.

Project Management

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, scope, and timelines.
  • Oversee the work of various electrical consultants to ensure successful project delivery.

Systems Thinking

  • Apply systems thinking principles to analyze the interrelationships between electrical systems and the overall performance of power generation facilities.
  • Lead discussions and dialogues to better understand, define, and effectively manage complex electrical systems.
  • Establish systems structure, including requirements development, system architecture, integration, and verification, to support the design and implementation of complex electrical systems.

Documentation and Specifications

  • Document all aspects of electrical product development to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Create and provide peer review for electrical drawings and specifications for power generation components and systems.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate is an Electrical Engineer with experience in power generation facilities. They possess a strong systems-thinking mindset, with a passion for innovation that leads them to take a first-principles approach to engineering, ensuring the best solutions for unique applications. This candidate is an innately curious self-starter who excels in communication and project management and can maintain high performance when assigned multiple tasks in parallel. Ideally, has experience with both North American and IEC electrical standards.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience, with experience in power generation or industrial facilities as a part of a larger interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Systems engineering experience is a plus
  • Effective time management skills and able to adapt to shifting business priorities across multiple time zones.
  • Proactive communication and collaboration skills for interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Expertise across a range of electrical deliverables.
  • Experience with reviewing ETAP, PSCAD, PSLF, PSSE or other similar software outputs.
