Your Mission
Hydrostor is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and support a multidisciplinary team of technical professionals delivering complex engineering work in support of our long-duration energy storage projects. This role is ideal for a people-focused engineering leader who combines strong systems engineering expertise with a proven ability to guide technical teams, coordinate priorities, and ensure successful delivery across multiple initiatives.
As Engineering Manager, you will oversee engineering resources, manage work packages from internal business stakeholders, and help establish and strengthen an Engineering Centre of Excellence. You will work closely with leaders across the organization to balance competing priorities, align resources to business needs, and create an environment where engineers can do their best work while delivering high-quality outcomes.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of systems engineering principles along with experience managing technical teams, projects, stakeholders, and resource allocation within a complex engineering environment.
Your Day-to-Day Adventures
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technical specialists, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
- Manage engineering resources across multiple projects and initiatives, ensuring work is assigned effectively and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Serve as a key point of coordination between engineering teams and business stakeholders to understand incoming work, establish priorities, and align delivery expectations.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering work packages while balancing quality, schedule, and resource requirements.
- Apply systems engineering best practices and methodologies consistently throughout project execution.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of an Engineering Centre of Excellence, including processes, standards, tools, and best practices.
- Monitor team capacity and project demands, proactively identifying opportunities to optimize workloads and maintain sustainable delivery.
- Partner with project, program, and functional leaders to resolve competing priorities and support effective decision-making.
- Communicate project status, risks, resource requirements, and progress updates to a variety of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Facilitate collaboration across engineering disciplines and ensure alignment with broader project and business objectives.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, career development, and succession planning activities for the engineering team.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, innovation, and professional growth.
Who You Are
You are a collaborative and people-centred engineering leader who enjoys helping technical teams succeed. You bring strong organizational skills, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. You are comfortable balancing multiple priorities, making thoughtful decisions, and creating clarity for teams working on challenging technical problems.
You excel at building relationships, fostering trust, and supporting engineers through coaching and mentorship. Most importantly, you are passionate about creating an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued and where individuals can contribute their best work.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of engineering experience, including experience leading technical teams and managing engineering resources.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering management, people leadership, and project delivery within a technical environment.
- Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices aligned with INCOSE methodologies.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating work across multiple projects and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to prioritize competing requests, allocate resources effectively, and align team efforts with business objectives.
- Experience supporting engineering governance, standards development, continuous improvement initiatives, or Centers of Excellence.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of an organization.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information for diverse audiences.
- Experience with engineering planning, forecasting, risk management, and project execution.
- Demonstrated commitment to mentorship, employee development, and inclusive leadership practices.
Compensation Details
- $110,000 – $150,000 base salary
