Role Overview
The Vice President of Project Delivery is responsible for leading Kanin Energy’s end-to-end project execution function. This role owns the successful delivery of all projects within Kanin’s development pipeline from post-development handoff through commissioning and to commercial operation.
This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced project executive who understands complex industrial energy projects, power generation, EPC interfaces, and the realities of executing capital projects in operating industrial facilities. The VP of Project Delivery will build and lead a high-performing project delivery team while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to contracted performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution Leadership
- Support late-stage project development as projects advance through Front Engineering and Design
- Own delivery of Kanin Energy’s portfolio of waste heat–to–power projects, combined heat to power and power generation projects from Notice to Proceed through commissioning and closeout
- Establish and enforce best-in-class project execution standards across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning
- Lead project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and change management processes.
Team Leadership & Organization Building
- Build, lead, and mentor the project delivery team, including project managers, engineers, and owner’s reps
- Create a scalable project delivery organization that supports Kanin Energy’s growth pipeline
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence
EPC & Vendor Management
- Oversee EPC contractors, major equipment suppliers, and third-party engineering firms
- Lead vendor negotiations and build relationships with new vendors
- Lead contract execution, performance management, and dispute resolution
- Ensure equipment and construction activities meet quality, performance, and warranty requirements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Development, Finance, Commercial, and Operations teams to ensure seamless handoffs and lifecycle alignment
- Support financing and commercial milestones with accurate schedules, cost forecasts, and technical diligence material, and may include leading IE reports and insurance estimates
- Ensure constructability and operability feedback is incorporated early in project development
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Champion safety culture across all project sites and partners
- Ensure compliance with all permitting, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Identify and proactively mitigate technical, commercial, and execution risks
Qualifications
Required
- 15+ years of experience delivering complex power generation, industrial or energy infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated success leading project delivery for mid-scale (5-250MW) power or industrial energy projects
- Strong understanding of EPC contracting models, construction risk, and owner’s engineer responsibilities and experience negotiating key delivery and vendor contracts
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar capital budgets and project schedules
- Proven people leader with experience building and scaling delivery teams
Qualifications
Preferred
- Experience with waste heat recovery, combined cycle, ORC, or thermal power technologies
- Background in industrial facilities (thermal power generation, oil & gas, chemicals, refining, pulp & paper, etc.)
- Familiarity with project finance requirements and lender technical diligence
- Experience delivering projects in operating industrial environments
