Product Manager: Natural Climate Solutions
Land Life Company
Job description
This is us
At Land Life, our ambition is not just to create positive change, but to inspire it. We're on a mission to restore our planet's 2 billion hectares of degraded land, by planting the right trees, at the right time and in the right place, leveraging technology every step of the way and unlocking carbon and other new markets to fund this work. Our team is global, our impact is significant; last year we planted 3.5 million trees worldwide and we were recognised as the Uplink Top Innovator at the 2024 World Economic Forum. Now we're looking for an impact-driven Product Manager with carbon removal certification expertise and experience to join our Product Team.
This is the role
Our Product Team translates our impact in the field into compelling offerings for our customers. As a Product Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in safeguarding and enhancing the commercial value of Land Life's carbon removal product. This entails both making sure that Land Life projects globally meet Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) requirements as well as researching and ultimately spearheading our diversification of carbon removal certification standards. Think along the lines of Gold Standard (GS), Australia Carbon Credits Unity Scheme (ACCUs) or even emerging ones like the EU Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF). As an important part of the rule you will also improve current internal procedures of certification and implement programs of internal training in our products. Y
We’ll be looking to you to:
Be the go-to expert on all (VCS) certification-related subjects, making sure carbon Standards, product requirements & working knowledge are up-to-date and applied throughout the organization.
Help us track and respond to relevant carbon standards’ latest developments and (co-)craft the appropriate perspectives, responses, processes or actions for Land Life.
Assess and approve project pipelines to ensure compliance with internal and relevant standard criteria.
Ensure all documents, audits, registrations, and communications are duly filed, initiated, completed on time for Land Life’s global plantings under the right standards.
-
Optimize internal procedures in order to ensure the quality of Land Life’s products and services as well as making sure the needed knowledge is kept and shared among the company’s activities.
Be prepared to have ‘do right by nature’ as your underlying product. This means your work will be highly multidisciplinary and requires you to master and integrate information from operational, financial, scientific, and regulatory perspectives.
Job requirements
This is you
First and foremost - you care. You care about creating the right impact and consistent, scalable quality in projects across Land Life’s global hubs.
Critical: you have at least 2 years’ of relevant work experience and proven working knowledge of at least two carbon certification standards for reforestation projects (e.g., CDM, VCS, GS), complimented with a relevant qualification or comparable knowledge (e.g. forestry, environmental management, finance or economics).
You have keen analytical skills and a strategic mindset, able to effectively translate market and standard developments into concrete objectives, actions and desired outcomes.
You listen actively and communicate with care, naturally able to enlist input from experts, convey complex concepts, and facilitate constructive discussions and decisions.
You enjoy sharing knowledge with varied audiences, making complex carbon and reforestation markets accessible and understandable for everyone.
You are structured and detail-oriented, able to screen, select and make design improvements effectively in a growing pipeline of reforestation opportunities.
You work well in an environment where you operate autonomously but collaboratively, asking critical questions to fill gaps and finding the right balance between speed and quality.
-
Highly desirable experience would include a demonstrated track record of knowledge management, developing and implementing climate goals, experience in greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting and protocols, and/or experience implementing insetting carbon projects in the value chain.
What we’re offering you
We offer a rare opportunity to contribute directly to 3 major global challenges at once - climate action, land restoration and biodiversity protection/restoration. The Product Team you is dedicated to making ‘do right by nature’ bankable, and you’ll get to work on both the ‘do right’ and ‘bankable’ piece every single day. On top - you will get to tap into immense knowledge across Land Life about the latest science, tech and business and operational approaches to tree planting and nature restoration.
We offer an environment to work in a dynamic company surrounded by people who care. Expect colleagues who are engaged, sharp and - most importantly - take pride in our mission, our work and each other. Our office is at a green and convenient location near the Oosterpark in Amsterdam, where we enjoy walks, lunches and regular social events together.
Finally, we offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits, including a great pension plan, free lunch, public transport subsidies and reasonable flexibility in how you work from the Amsterdam office. Note the salary range advertised here is indicative of our internal job grade level, and offers made will take into consideration your level of experience and demonstrated impact at that level.
How to apply
We’re looking to fill this position as soon as possible, so interviews will start on a rolling basis. Our recruitment process is fair and thorough, consisting of an initial call to clarify information we both need to decide to proceed, and two in-person interview rounds, involving a case study to give you more detailed insight to the role, and a chance to meet the team and senior leaders.
We welcome different perspectives and experiences because we believe this is the foundation for achieving high-integrity nature restoration at scale. We believe in equal opportunities for everyone and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
