The role
In this role, you will work closely with a small, well-established engineering team to develop and maintain core services, deliver new features, and shape the future of our product. We are looking for a self-starter who is comfortable taking ownership, working independently, and sharing knowledge with the team through pairing. You’ll contribute to evolving our processes and tech stack while balancing pragmatism with innovation.
Our tech stack includes:
- TypeScript
- React
- Node.js
- Jest and Cypress
- Serverless framework
- Various AWS services, including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, OpenSearch, MySQL, and CloudFront
- Terraform

In your first month you'll:
- Get to grips with our codebase and the services we run
- Work on a number of features end-to-end to deliver value quickly
- Pair with team members to learn the ropes
- Contribute to discussions on future development
Within 3 months you'll:
- Develop a clear understanding of all our services and how they work together
- Start proactively making improvements to the codebase and the surrounding processes
- Help balance new features with stability by contributing to technical debt discussions
- Act as an autonomous contributor, with a strong focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing
Within 6 months you'll:
- Develop a strong understanding of the commercials of our business, and how the work done in Engineering supports our wider business goals
- Be releasing changes multiple times a day, and taking ownership of entire new initiatives
- Bring your own experience and knowledge to craft new features that are intuitive for our clients
- Help shape our team culture, ensuring we maintain agility and flexibility while balancing technical innovation with pragmatism
This role will be a great fit if:
- You care about the customer, and care about the inner workings of the business
- You are a self-starter who takes ownership quickly
- You thrive in an environment where you can balance pairing and working independently
- You’re motivated by improving both code quality and team processes
- You have experience working on end-to-end features and are comfortable with areas of a product that may need further iteration
- You embrace technical debt as a tool to make great products
- You enjoy working closely with others and sharing knowledge to make the team stronger as a whole
It'd be a bonus if:
- You’ve worked in environments with small teams and fast communication
- You are comfortable with the ambiguity that comes from a start-up environment
- You’re not afraid to suggest new technologies but can balance that with pragmatism
- You’ve been part of a team where resilience and service reliability are critical
We’re looking for someone to join a high-performing, close-knit team who can help us evolve and maintain our product while balancing technical challenges. If you’re proactive, enjoy learning together, and can push the team forward while keeping things agile and flexible, we’d love to hear from you.
