Position Purpose:

Under the direction of the CEO, the Human Resource Generalist will oversee the daily administration of specified HR functional areas including recruiting, retention, engagement, performance management, employee relations, training and development, employee related policies and compensation/benefits administration. Works collaboratively with PEO staff to deliver an exceptional employee experience.

Essential Duties:

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
  • Implements and delivers new hire orientation and employee recognition programs
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and engagement; and training and development
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include company sponsored leadership and skills development training, compliance training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff (e.g. HR Director, Chief Legal Officer)
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Plans and coordinates employee recognition and engagement events and activities
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business or related field. SHRM-CP or PHR certification or combination of years of service in the HR field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ previous experience in a Human Resources role. Experience in organizations of similar size or greater, in a food and/or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Broad working knowledge in one or more HR disciplines (Employee Relations, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Workforce Planning, etc.) required
  • Basic knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively and professionally manage, counsel, motivate, guide, and communicate with employees across all levels and departments
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to identify, analyze, and resolve all HR-related issues
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize accordingly. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, timelines, and demands based on client or the company needs/requests
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently, and proficiently respond to changing priorities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily in office located in Aurora, CO
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Work is completed in a standard office environment or production environment
  • Sitting approximately 70% of time and working at computer/phone 70% of time
  • Ability to sit, stand, lift (up to 25 pounds), walk, stoop, bend, reach, and kneel. All activities may be present during the day
  • Must be able to use and operate equipment including but not limited to, computers, telephones, and copy machine
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permit employee to communicate effectively on the telephone, in writing and in person
