Natcap is on a mission to accelerate the nature-positive transition by integrating nature intelligence into business decision-making. Nature loss creates increasingly significant risks for companies and financial institutions. Natcap provides the data, insights and advice organisations need to understand their dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities, and to take informed action.

We are looking for an exceptional Director, Financial Services to build Natcap’s position and business within the financial services sector. This is a hybrid technical and commercial role. Working closely with the CEO, Head of Sales & Partnerships, and Head of Product, you will lead the development of our approach to quantifying the financial impact of nature-related risks and work hands-on to turn it into data products. You will also identify where Natcap can win, build senior market relationships and convert the proposition into revenue.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Own the financial-impact methodology. Lead the development of Natcap’s methodology for quantifying how nature-related risks affect company financial performance and portfolio risk. Define the analytical framework, outputs and validation approach so the results are credible and useful for customer decisions.

  • Turn the methodology into working models. Translate the methodology into models, analyses and repeatable workflows. Build, test and refine model components directly where required, and work closely with science, engineering and product colleagues to make the approach robust, scalable and suitable for integration into Natcap’s products.

  • Define where Natcap wins in financial services. Develop a clear view of the highest-value segments, use cases and buying centres. Use customer and market evidence to shape, test and refine our financial services strategy.

  • Establish Natcap as a credible leader in financial services. Build Natcap’s profile, relationships and reputation with leading financial institutions, industry bodies and relevant market influencers.

  • Deliver revenue. Originate a high-quality pipeline, lead senior client conversations and convert opportunities into lighthouse customers and long-term partnerships. Grow relationships with existing customers and deliver against agreed financial services revenue targets.

  • Support customer delivery. As required, manage customer relationships, lead customer calls, project-manage delivery and quality-assure outputs for priority financial services customers.

Must Haves:

  • Deep understanding of sustainability-related issues in financial services, ideally including climate, nature, risk, investment or sustainability data.

  • Strong understanding of how environmental or climate risks are translated into financial consequences, including credit, investment or portfolio risk.

  • Strong quantitative modelling skills, including experience delivering models to financial institutions.

  • Significant leadership and commercial experience in a business selling complex data, technology or advisory solutions to financial institutions.

  • Deep understanding of how financial institutions make decisions, procure new capabilities and adopt data and technology across complex stakeholder environments.

  • Strong credibility with senior financial-services stakeholders and an established network across relevant parts of the market.

  • A demonstrable track record of originating and converting significant commercial opportunities and building strategic client relationships.

  • The ability to translate complex customer problems into clear product, data or analytical requirements. Experience developing and commercialising new risk, analytics or data propositions for financial institutions.

  • Executive-level communication, judgement and presence, combined with the willingness to operate effectively in a high-growth entrepreneurial environment.

What We Can Offer You:

Build a market: Take a leadership role in establishing how one of the most important emerging areas of financial risk and sustainability becomes embedded in financial decision-making.

Shape a new category of product. Work directly with financial institutions and Natcap's scientists and product team to determine how nature-related risks can be translated into credible, decision-useful financial intelligence.

Be an owner: Everyone gets competitive compensation and equity in Natcap, so you are an owner of what we build together.

Maximise your impact: This role includes performance-related variable compensation linked to an agreed sales quota, giving you the opportunity to directly share in the value you create.

You’ll also benefit from enhanced family and sick-pay policies, flexible salary-sacrifice schemes, learning and development support, regular company Away Days and the wider benefits available to the Natcap team.
