Sentara Group (formerly known as Nutrition Technologies) is an Agritech company based in Malaysia, on a mission to address global food security. Originally founded in 2015 by two British entrepreneurs, Nick Piggott and Tom Berry, the company manufactures sustainable animal feed ingredients, pet food ingredients, and biofertilisers. The company uses a unique proprietary process that combines biotechnology and Black Soldier Fly larvae to recycle nutrients from vegetable-based agricultural and food processing by-products into a range of upstream agricultural inputs. In 2022, the company scaled up to industrial production with the launch of its two-hectare factory in Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia, and in 2024 launched its new biofertiliser factory also in Senai, Malaysia. Sentara Group will continue producing NT’s pioneering frass-based bioactive organic fertilizers and biostimulants, specifically designed to combat key tropical fungal plant diseases and enhance soil health. These products will remain manufactured at its dedicated Control Union certified biofertilizer facility, meeting the strict standards for export and use as organic fertilizers in Japan, the EU, Australia, Canada, and the US. In addition, Sentara Group will continue producing its pure Black Soldier Fly larvae products, including insect meals and whole dried Black Soldier Fly larvae, at its separate GMP and HACCP certified facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, with full regulatory approval for export to the EU and US. Sentara Group is actively developing new products, processes, and solutions across the circular economy value chain, leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive sustainable innovation and create additional value for its customers, stakeholders, and Malaysia’s Black Soldier Fly (BSF) ecosystem.
