We are now looking for a part time weekend worker to join our Bioprocess team in Helsinki, Finland.

In this position, you will play an essential role in the bioprocess team by contributing to smooth and continuous operations over weekends, thereby supporting research projects and contributing towards our greater goal of providing animal-free egg protein ingredients to the world. We aim to play a significant role in building the sustainable food system with the help of our partners throughout the world. Towards this goal our team utilizes microbial production systems for expressing egg white proteins using filamentous fungi.

Your responsibilities:

Working a weekend shift pattern when bioreactor cultivations are running to ensure smooth and continuous bioprocess operations over weekends. Your tasks would include:

  • Monitoring of bioreactor cultivation experiments
  • Bioreactor sampling and sample handling
  • Equipment cleaning
  • Preparation and analysis of bioprocess samples, e.g. HPLC sample preparation
  • Keeping timely sample data entry in an electrical lab notebook and reporting of results to scientists

We are looking for a person who has:

  • Completed technical degree, preferably in laboratory, biotechnology or process technology, or students in related fields that are further in their studies with proven laboratory work experience.
  • A Safety-First mindset when working in the lab.
  • Basic knowledge of bioprocess technology, fermentation, microbiology and aseptic working techniques.
  • Experience working with bioreactors is a plus.
  • Experience with aseptic working is a plus.
  • Eager attitude towards your working tasks and learning new things.
  • Available for weekend work: the working hours are mainly around weekends (Fri-Mon) every other weekend.
  • Sufficient English language skills to follow working instructions, document and report results.
