Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to help shape and drive our growth strategy. In this role, you’ll develop new partnerships, manage key client relationships, and lead efforts to bring Pow.bio’s innovative technology to market.
As Senior Director of Business Development, you will leverage your expertise and industry network to cultivate meaningful partnerships, close impactful deals, and support Pow.bio’s mission to change scale-up forever. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to align market opportunities with company objectives and help execute Pow.bio’s vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for specific sales targets
- Lead negotiations, close deals, and finalize agreements with customers and partners.
- Build and maintain a robust customer pipeline of opportunities by identifying and pursuing strategic business partnerships.
- Diligently track progress using CRM software.
- Utilize pipeline information in CRM to build robust bottoms up sales forecast
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and key stakeholders, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Identify business opportunities, target markets, and emerging industry trends through comprehensive market research.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Commercial to develop and execute business development strategies to align with Pow.bio's growth objectives and achieve revenue and growth targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical, sales, marketing, and executive teams, to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Provide inputs to the team in developing innovative solutions and value propositions to meet customer needs and drive business growth.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to build brand awareness and expand networks.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to potential clients and partners.
- Stay updated on industry developments, market conditions, and competitor activities to identify potential risks and opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, or a related field (Master’s or Ph.D. a plus).
- Master’s degree in business
- 8+ years of business development experience in biotechnology.
- 5+ years of scientific/technology related work in biotechnology.
- Proven ability to identify, negotiate, and close high-level business deals (please include a deal sheet if available).
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships and cultivate long-term client relationships.
- Commercial experience in Biochemicals and Nutraceuticals industry is a plus
- Experience with selling software as a service a plus
- Experience in business development or sales selling manufacturing process solutions a plus
- Must have experience working with newly launched products in a B2B environment
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in using CRM software and other business development tools.
- Strong understanding of contractual terms and deal execution.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to support senior executives in business development activities.
- Extensive network of industry contacts in biotech, biomanufacturing, or synthetic biology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to support travel requirements as needed.

Compensation for this role is based on experience, scope, and demonstrated impact. The expected hiring compensation for this position is $160,000-$200,000 base, with eligibility for a performance-based target bonus.
