We’re seeking an exceptional Algae Technician with experience in microalgae/seaweed cultivation to join our R&D team focused on the development, optimisation and maintenance of a diverse range of small scale algae cultures. This role is based in Noosa with opportunities for rapid career progression for the right candidate. Working with world leading experts in a purpose driven and highly motivated team, you will be provided on the job training that will enable you to become a world leader in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a collection of microalgae/seaweed
cultures, conducting routine inoculation using strict aseptic technique. - Conduct daily husbandry and inoculation of cultures in a controlled environment following strict protocols.
- Operate closed-system bioreactors in compliance with internal protocols and specified regulatory standards.
- Conduct research projects under the direction of the senior algae technician.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and optimisation of the Algae/Seaweed production process.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and continuously optimise production processes.
- Maintain precise and accurate records to support data-driven improvements.
- Maintain plant and laboratory equipment and adhere to strict cleaning and maintenance protocols.
- The position will operate on a rolling roster that includes weekends in a facility that operates 24/7 in a time critical environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- A degree in aquaculture, bioprocessing, or related fields or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in algae/seaweed cultivation or aquaculture.
- A problem solving, can-do attitude.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
