Position summary

The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and plumbing systems across the facility. This includes bioprocessing equipment, pumps, plastic tank assemblies, valves, sensors, electrical components, and supporting utilities. The technician ensures high equipment uptime, safe operation, and reliable performance of all production, water, and utilities systems.

Key accountabilities & responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on pumps, tanks, pipework, valves, sensors, and electrical components.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing faults to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain motors, solenoids, level/flow sensors, junction boxes, and low-voltage control circuits.
  • Assist licensed electricians with isolations, commissioning checks, and equipment testing.
  • Maintain and repair plastic tank systems, PVC/PE pipe assemblies, fittings, and flow lines.
  • Carry out leak tests, pressure tests, electrical checks, and basic instrumentation calibration.
  • Support maintenance of filtration systems, harvest systems, and general plant utilities.
  • Record all work, parts used, and completed tasks in the maintenance system (CMMS).
  • Follow WHS procedures, lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and safe work practices at all times.
  • Participate in equipment improvements, reliability enhancements, and small upgrade projects.

Skills & experience

  • Electrical Trade Qualification and QLD Electrical Licence or Restrictive Licence — OR relevant Mechanical/Instrumentation Trade
  • Experience from recently qualified tradespeople to seasoned technicians
  • Background in industrial maintenance, pumps, valves, sensors, or plumbing systems preferred.
  • Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Familiarity with digital maintenance systems.
