Role Summary

The Animal Trial Technician is a full-time, on-farm role responsible for supporting the execution of animal trials and ensuring accurate, reliable collection of trial data in commercial feedlot and farm environments. The role is hands-on and suits a graduate or junior technician with an interest in livestock, trials, and agricultural operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day execution of animal trials on farm and in feedlot environments
  • Record, manage, and maintain accurate trial data relating to animals, feed, dosing, and operations
  • Monitor and log environmental and site conditions that may influence trial outcomes
  • Observe and document feed delivery, feeding behaviour, bunker conditions, and trial-related activities
  • Assist with feed, supplement, and product handling in line with trial requirements
  • Support the operation, checking, and basic troubleshooting of trial-related equipment and systems
  • Identify, record, and report deviations from trial protocols or unusual observations
  • Maintain organised trial records and assist with data transfer and reporting as required
  • Work closely with the Trials Manager and feedlot staff to support smooth trial operations
  • Assist with general feedlot and farm duties when trial responsibilities are complete, ensuring trial work always takes priority

Skills & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in agriculture, animal science, or a related field (preferred but not essential)
  • Practical livestock or farm experience highly regarded
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a commercial livestock environment
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required by farm operations
  • Basic computer and data entry skills

This will require you to live close to the feedlot where living away allowances provided if applicable. Locations are generally in the Queensland South East area but there may be requirements to travel interstate in the future.
