Description
Job Summary: The Machinist IV will program, set up, operate and troubleshoot both CNC and manual mills and lathes. Work with R&D, Engineering and Production teams to produce precision parts and new processes. This individual will support the production teams to ensure a continuous flow of product. Leadership and mentoring skills are expected.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret GD&T and work from blueprints, sketches, sample parts and solid models to produce precision parts.
- Program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software and G-code to ensure accurate and efficient production.
- Assist in developing new machining processes and improve existing ones. Create SWIs for new processes.
- Select the appropriate tooling and speeds and feeds to accomplish machining operations.
- Assist in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of production machinery to ensure smooth and efficient production runs.
- Perform in process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and report necessary repairs on machining equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a machinist, with 3 years in a Level III role or equivalent.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associates degree in machining or a related field preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong programming skills for CNC machines.
- Experience with manual milling machines and lathes.
- Knowledge of tooling and preventative maintenance of production equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products or machines as directed.
- Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Regularly utilizes written and oral communication skills.
- Requires ability to read and interpret information and documents.
- Performs detailed work on multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to speak and hear clearly, with or without accommodation.
