POLYMER SCIENTIST WITH 3D PRINTING EXPERIENCE [ Location: Austin TX ] About: re:3D Inc is seeking assistance with NSF, DoD and NASA funded investigations examining opportunities to 3D print from reclaimed plastic in Austin. Responsible for designing, implementing and reporting outcomes from experiments that combine research, impact and 3D printing. The ideal candidate is positive, creative, self-motivated, and a team player. Responsibilities: Design, plan, and present on new products, prototypes, and processes in 3D polymers for FGF and FDM applications; Drive scientific excellence and best practices in research, development, implementation, and execution of new material synthesis, formulation, and process improvement; Serve as SME in 3D polymers with strong understanding of additive manufacturing market; Collaborate with production on scale-up and transfer of new products to manufacturing; Use design of experiments and statistical tools to resolve root causes of variations; Partner with product managers to generate specifications and set project scope; Communicate with cross-functional teams; Manage projects to deliver on-time, high-quality results; Mentor junior scientists and engineers; Travel up to 2–3 times a year. Qualifications: PhD or Masters in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, or related; Minimum 3 years of industrial R&D experience directly related to hands-on 3D printing material R&D and commercialization; Strong understanding of polymer chemistry/physics and materials science; Familiar with additive manufacturing market; Excellent verbal and written communication; Ability to work well under pressure; Detail-oriented and technically minded; Self-motivated and a team player; Willing to learn and teach; Passionate about 3D printing. Employment Terms: Full-time hourly up to 45 hrs/wk; Compensation negotiable.
