HOMEROOM TEACHER – IBS AL-AZHAR ASY-SYARIF SUMATERA UTARA

Job Description

IBS Al-Azhar Asy-Syarif Sumatera Utara is seeking a dedicated and responsible Homeroom Teacher to guide and support students academically, spiritually, and administratively in line with boarding school values.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Attendance and Discipline

    • Arrive punctually by 07.00 AM; lateness may affect incentive.

    • Uphold discipline and implement school rules.

  2. Morning Assembly & Literacy

    • Lead and document Morning Assembly, Arabic vocabulary (mufrodat), and literacy sessions.

    • Submit daily documentation to assigned communication groups.

  3. Health and Attendance Monitoring

    • Complete daily attendance and health check forms.

    • Ensure sick students are attended to appropriately.

  4. Class Support

    • Assist and maintain classroom order during teaching sessions, particularly in Tahfidz classes.

  5. Student Worship Guidance

    • Supervise students in performing duha, dzuhur, and ashar prayers at the mosque/musholla.

  6. iPad Management

    • Monitor the distribution and return of iPads and fill in usage logs.

  7. Classroom Cleanliness

    • Ensure cleanliness and order before and after classes.

  8. Meal Supervision

    • Ensure all students join lunch time and are not left in classrooms.

  9. Student Mentorship

    • Provide consultation, motivation, and emotional support to students.

    • Report major issues to the Guidance & Counseling (BK) team.

  10. Parent Communication

    • Maintain effective communication with parents regarding academic and health matters.

  11. School Events

    • Be present and responsible for students during school events.

  12. Weekly & Monthly Administration

    • Check and assess weekly literacy assignments.

    • Submit monthly class administrative reports and student attendance recap.

  13. Weekly Assessments

    • Conduct weekly vocabulary/mufrodat quizzes.

  14. Report Card Management

    • Prepare and distribute report cards to parents/guardians.

  15. Class Administration

    • Maintain classroom documents such as attendance lists, seat layouts, duty rosters, violation records, and iPad logs.

  16. Class Governance

    • Appoint and mentor student leaders (class president, secretary, treasurer, duty officers).

  17. Personal Approach

    • Perform individual mentoring (personal approach) with documented tracking.

  18. Curriculum Development

    • Participate in curriculum planning and instructional improvement.

    • Act as a professional role model with strong moral ethics and commitment to inclusive education.

  19. Other Duties

    • Execute additional tasks assigned by the school that are relevant to the role.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in:

    • Education

    • English Language

    • Guidance and Counseling

  • Fluent and active in spoken and written English

  • Experienced in education or boarding school settings is an advantage

  • Strong administrative, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
