JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Analyst to join our Renewable Hydrogen & Power-to-X team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing 8760-hour modeling of new wind and solar projects, as well as battery storage, electrolyzers, hydrogen storage, CO2 storage, and downstream processes like methanation and methanol production. The role requires proficiency in ASPEN, digital twins, AI-driven modeling techniques, and linear programming to optimize the design and operation of these systems. Additionally, familiarity with ERCOT, SPP, and MISO power markets is essential to ensure accurate modeling and alignment with market conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

8760-Hour Modeling:

  • Develop and execute 8760-hour models for wind and solar energy projects, integrating with battery storage and other energy systems.
  • Analyze and simulate the performance of electrolyzers, hydrogen storage systems, and CO2 storage facilities.
  • Optimize the operation of methanation and methanol production processes, including subsequent storage of end products.

System Integration and Optimization:

  • Use ASPEN and other process simulation software to model and optimize the overall system, ensuring efficient integration of renewable energy sources with Power-to-X technologies.
  • Employ linear programming techniques to optimize the scheduling and operation of complex systems, considering constraints such as energy availability, storage capacities, and market conditions.
  • Utilize digital twin technology to create dynamic, real-time models of the systems for predictive analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Apply AI and machine learning techniques to enhance system performance, predict failures, and optimize maintenance schedules.

Power Market Analysis:

  • Incorporate market-specific considerations into modeling efforts, particularly for ERCOT, SPP, and MISO regions.
  • Analyze market conditions, pricing, and demand patterns in these power markets to inform project development and optimization strategies.
  • Collaborate with market analysts and traders to align modeling outputs with market dynamics and trading strategies.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze large datasets from simulations and real-world operations to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and business development, to align modelling outcomes with project objectives.

Research and Development:

  • Stay current with the latest developments in renewable hydrogen, Power-to-X technologies, and related fields.
  • Contribute to the development of new modeling methodologies and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Participate in R&D projects focused on advancing the state-of-the-art in renewable hydrogen production and utilization.

WHAT YOU BRING:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Computer Engineering/Data Science or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in energy systems modeling, preferably in renewable hydrogen or Power-to-X projects.
  • Proficiency in ASPEN, MATLAB, Python, or other relevant simulation and modelling tools.
  • Experience with 8760-hour modeling, including wind, solar, battery storage, and hydrogen systems.
  • Familiarity with linear programming for optimization problems in energy systems.
  • Knowledge of ERCOT, SPP, and MISO power markets and their specific operational and regulatory environments.
  • Experience with digital twins, AI, and machine learning applications in energy systems.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of CO2 storage, methanation, methanol production processes, and battery storage processes.
  • Experience with hydrogen storage and transportation logistics.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards related to hydrogen production and storage.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • 100% remote work.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
  • Work in a dynamic and innovative environment at the forefront of renewable energy.

HOW TO APPLY:

Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume and a cover letter outlining their qualifications and experience relevant to this role. Please send your application to info@stormfisher.com with the subject line “Analyst – Application – [Your Name]”.
