The Role

As a Lab Experiment Technician, you will play a key role in supporting Summit’s mission to advance innovative chemical and engineering solutions. In this part-time role, you will primarily assist the Reliability Engineering team in executing lab experiments and operating prototype systems designed to support Summit’s development efforts. You will also lead continuous improvement efforts associated with the test systems. You will work hands-on in the laboratory and test facility —preparing solutions, running tests, and collecting data that inform the design and optimization of commercial systems. This position offers a valuable opportunity for students to gain real-world lab and research experience while working alongside engineers and chemists in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up and preparing lab-scale test systems and prototype equipment
  • Prepare chemical solutions and materials for experiments
  • Conduct bench-scale experiments and operate laboratory and prototype systems under supervision
  • Collect, analyze, and document experimental data accurately
  • Maintain, clean, and organize lab equipment, tools, and workspace
  • Lead design, procedural, and controls improvements associated with test systems
  • Follow established safety procedures and contribute to a culture of safety
  • Collaborate with chemists, engineers, and other team members as needed

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Strong interest in laboratory work, hands-on testing, and chemical/mechanical systems
  • Basic understanding of chemical processes and laboratory safety
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow procedures accurately
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and communicate effectively
  • Previous lab or research experience is a plus

Only successful candidates will be contacted for further steps in the hiring process.
