This Software / Technology Program Manager role, focused on Linux, Android, Power, and Multimedia technologies, is responsible for providing program management leadership for the planning, development, and delivery of software spanning multiple technology areas and product segments.
The role supports the Qualcomm IoT team, working extensively with open-source ecosystems and multiple Linux distributions, driving execution across cross‑functional and geographically distributed teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge software, hardware, and HLOS platforms including Android and Linux
- Ensure open-source compliance and coordinated release execution across Linux, Yocto, Debian, and Ubuntu
- Collaborate with cross-functional technology teams including BSP, Modem, Connectivity, Multimedia, and Business Units
- Drive requirements scoping, analysis, and planning, including interdependencies, staffing constraints, and schedule optimization across multiple technology teams and customer engagements
- Establish clear Plan of Record (PoR) commitments and drive prioritization across competing requirements
- Demonstrate strong technical understanding of software deliverables, risk identification, and mitigation strategies
- Establish rigorous execution discipline and communication processes, including risk tracking, schedule variance analysis, recovery planning, executive reporting, and stakeholder communication
- Develop and track program health indicators covering quality, milestones, and delivery timelines
- Partner with engineering, quality, and operations teams to establish disciplined development processes and ensure product quality
- Drive coordination across multiple development sites and global stakeholders as required
- Develop and institutionalize scalable program management processes to integrate multiple plans, dependencies, and deliverables efficiently
Core Program Management & Domain Experience
- Strong domain knowledge and experience in Wireless and Semiconductor industries (mandatory)
- Up to 10+ years of experience combining software product development and program management within the semiconductor/wireless domain
- Experience managing software products across the full development lifecycle, from concept through production and customer delivery
- Experience working with 3rd‑party OS vendors and external software partners
- Proven experience in end‑to‑end product integration across hardware and software stacks
Linux, Android & Open Source
- Strong experience with Linux‑based software frameworks and distributions such as Yocto, Ubuntu, Debian, and RedHat
- Familiarity with Linux OS integration, packaging policies, and release management
- Experience working within open-source development models, governance, and compliance processes
- Understanding of Android and HLOS architectures in embedded and IoT platforms
- Working knowledge of power management frameworks in Linux/Android environments
- Experience coordinating programs involving power optimization, low‑power modes, performance vs. power trade‑offs, and energy efficiency metrics
- Familiarity with thermal management concepts, thermal throttling, and system‑level power/thermal constraints in SoCs and IoT devices
- Ability to drive cross‑team alignment on power and thermal requirements, validation, and sign‑off criteria
- Familiarity with functional, performance, stress, power, and thermal testing strategies
- Experience defining quality metrics, test coverage expectations, and release readiness criteria
- Experience driving automation strategies for build, test, and release workflows & Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Linux and Android‑based software
- Ability to align engineering teams on best practices, tooling adoption, and delivery efficiency improvements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Business Administration
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2+ years of Program Management or related work experience.
