About The Role

We are looking for a highly analytical and quality-driven Senior / Staff Accountant to join our finance team in an international corporate environment. This role is ideally suited for Big 4 or comparable accounting-firm trained professionals who are looking to transition into industry while continuing to work on technically challenging accounting and statutory reporting topics.

The role has a strong review and oversight focus. Day-to-day transactional accounting is performed by a Global Accounting Operations Center (GAOC). In this position, you will act as a local accounting expert, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality statutory financial statements under local GAAP.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Oversight & Review

  • Review and validate accounting entries and financial data prepared by the GAOC
  • Perform balance sheet reviews, reconciliations, and plausibility checks
  • Ensure correct application of accounting standards, internal policies, and local GAAP requirements


Statutory Reporting (Local GAAP)

  • Prepare and coordinate annual statutory financial statements under local GAAP (HGB)
  • Own statutory reporting timelines, documentation, and technical positions
  • Ensure consistency between statutory accounts and underlying accounting records


Audit Management & Technical Interface

  • Act as the primary local contact for external auditors
  • Prepare audit documentation and lead discussions with auditors
  • Coordinate with international finance teams on accounting treatments and disclosures
  • Governance & Process Improvement
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and governance standards
  • Identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities in accounting processes
  • Support cross-functional initiatives such as ESG reporting, EU Taxonomy, or finance transformation projects


Your Profile

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Big 4 or comparable accounting firm background strongly preferred
  • Around 3 years of experience in statutory audit or accounting advisory
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and structured analytical mindset
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or comparable)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • High attention to detail, ownership mentality, and confidence in auditor interactions
  • Fluent in English and German, other European languages are a plus

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4+ years of Accounting, Finance, or related work experience.
  • Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
