As a Qualcomm Software Application Engineer, you will provide technical expertise of software systems through technical presentations in support of business development, product demonstrations, design and development of customer specific requirements, commercialization, and maintenance of Qualcomm products. Qualcomm Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to address questions, issues, debugging, or troubleshooting regarding software systems and applications.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.


OR

Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience

OR

PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.

  • 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
  • 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with debugging techniques.


Role Overview

The position is a customer engineering role. The individual will support customers in integrating WLAN products into their Snapdragon‑based products or third‑party platforms, and will support the full product lifecycle from design through mass production. The role involves helping customers resolve issues across all layers, including WLAN SoC chip firmware, drivers, protocol stack, Android framework, and applications.

Additionally, the individual will provide customer training, review customer customization design and implementation, and support marketing and sales teams to win designs. The role requires close collaboration with worldwide development engineering teams, customer program managers, and application engineering teams. The individual is expected to learn and master new WLAN technologies and QC software implementations quickly. Travel to customer sites and other regional QC offices is required. This is a challenging role requiring strong technical capability, solid customer engagement skills, and initiative to drive progress.

Responsibilities / Minimum Qualifications

  • C, WLAN, Wi‑Fi Security, wpa_supplicant, Hostapd, WLAN/BT Driver, Linux Driver, RF
  • Strong C/C++ programming skills
  • Windows driver experience


Technical Requirements

  • Familiarity with 802.11 protocol and IP networking (highly desirable)
  • Debugging skills in embedded environments, WLAN driver/firmware, and WLAN protocol analysis
  • Experience with WLAN wpa_supplicant/Hostapd, WLAN driver, and firmware development/customization (highly preferred)
  • Experience with Linux device drivers (plus)
  • Experience with Android or Windows Mobile (plus)
  • Experience with WLAN SoC firmware development (plus)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking (plus)
  • Experience working with low‑memory systems and code/data optimization
  • Hands‑on experience in C, data structures, algorithms, and operating systems


Additional Requirements

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly; self‑motivated and able to work independently under customer pressure
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 6–8 years of relevant work experience
