We are seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead critical firmware and platform software development for Server CPU and SoC platforms. This role is responsible for building and scaling high‑impact engineering teams that deliver robust, high‑quality firmware across the server stack, enabling reliable, performant, and secure platforms at scale.
The Director will partner closely with functional leads across firmware domains and geographies to define and execute the mandate for the team in the Bangalore Development Center (BDC), while maintaining strong alignment with global architecture, silicon, validation, and platform teams. This is a highly visible leadership role that blends deep technical understanding with organizational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and scale a multi‑level engineering organization responsible for server CPU and platform firmware, including domains such as virtual platforms, OpenBMC, RAS, SQA, and DevOps.
- Partner with functional leads across geographies to define the charter, scope, and execution model for firmware development in the BDC, ensuring clear ownership and accountability.
- Drive technical strategy and execution across the firmware lifecycle, from early silicon bring‑up through production deployment and sustainment.
- Establish strong collaboration models with silicon architecture, hardware design, validation, platform, and operations teams.
- Build and mentor engineering managers and senior technical leaders, creating a strong leadership bench and healthy succession pipeline.
- Ensure high standards of firmware quality, reliability, security, and maintainability through disciplined engineering practices and data‑driven execution.
- Champion modern development workflows, including CI/CD, automated testing, and scalable build systems, to support multiple platforms and release trains.
- Influence cross‑organizational technical decisions and represent firmware leadership in executive and cross‑functional forums.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in a Director‑level engineering role, with responsibility for organizational strategy, execution, and delivery.
- Proven experience leading large engineering organizations of 25+ engineers, including managing managers and operating across multiple layers of leadership.
- Strong, hands‑on background in embedded systems, including low‑level software, firmware, and close hardware–software co‑design.
- Demonstrated ability to scale teams, drive execution across complex technical domains, and deliver high‑quality products in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing across architecture, silicon, platform, validation, and operations teams.
- Experience with CPU and SoC firmware development, including early silicon bring‑up and close collaboration with hardware and validation teams.
- Strong background in server firmware technologies, including BMC, RAS, and low‑level communication protocols.
- Experience working with and contributing to open‑source standards and ecosystems, including upstream engagement and internal adoption.
- Proven leadership of teams operating large‑scale, integrated build systems supporting multiple products, configurations, and release trains.
- Experience defining and executing multi‑tier SQA methodologies, spanning unit, integration, system, and platform‑level validation.
- Demonstrated success leading globally distributed teams and driving alignment across time zones and cultures.
