Role Overview
Qualcomm is hiring a Senior Engineer to design, develop, and optimize AI/ML system software for next-generation edge, embedded, and platform solutions. This role involves hands-on work with ML runtimes, inference post‑processing pipelines, and microservice-based AI systems, along with growing ownership in LLM and VLM enablement on Qualcomm platforms.
The ideal candidate combines strong systems-level thinking with practical ML deployment experience, and is capable of driving features from design to production.
Key Responsibilities
Design, integrate, and optimize ML inference runtimes (e.g., ONNX Runtime, TensorFlow Lite, LiteRT, ExecuTorch, QAIRT, or equivalent)
Develop robust and scalable post‑processing pipelines for vision and multimodal ML models
Enable and optimize LLM and VLM inference workflows, including preprocessing, post‑processing, and orchestration
Design and implement microservices for AI inference, control, and data pipelines using REST/gRPC frameworks
Optimize AI systems for performance, latency, memory footprint, and power efficiency
Debug and resolve complex issues across runtime, framework, OS, and application layers
Collaborate closely with model developers, platform teams, hardware acceleration teams, and QA
Participate actively in code reviews, design discussions, and technical planning
Contribute to architectural decisions and drive best practices across the team
Required Qualifications
4+ years of industry experience in AI/ML systems, platform software, or systems engineering
Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
Hands-on experience with ML inference runtimes and deployment pipelines
Experience implementing ML model post‑processing (e.g., detection, classification, segmentation, embeddings)
Practical exposure to LLMs and/or VLMs and modern inference workflows
Solid understanding of Linux-based systems, multithreading, and system-level debugging
Experience designing or contributing to microservice-based architectures
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to software quality
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Qualcomm platforms or other hardware-accelerated AI solutions
Background in multimedia, computer vision, or video analytics pipelines
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
Understanding of model optimization techniques (quantization, precision trade-offs, compilation)
Experience contributing to or maintaining large-scale or open-source codebases
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

- 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
