General Summary
The VI Engineer, Senior is responsible for pre‑silicon and post‑silicon validation of Qualcomm IPs, ensuring functional correctness, robustness, and readiness for New Product Introduction (NPI) and mass production. The role requires strong hardware and software expertise to support validation across complex system environments.
The engineer supports validation activities for assigned IP components or functional areas, ensuring functionality meets device specifications and external customer requirements. Responsibilities include developing test hardware and measurement techniques, implementing test automation and data analysis to support cell‑, sub‑system‑, and system‑level validation, and debugging validation issues. The role also includes communicating validation results through NPI phase reviews and program forums.
This is a hands‑on technical role requiring independent execution, sound technical judgment, and effective problem‑solving skills. The engineer is expected to take ownership of assigned tasks within their scope and deliver high‑quality technical outcomes aligned with program and business needs, while adapting to evolving priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

Key Responsibilities
- Support and contribute to test requirements capture and program reviews.
- Plan and execute assigned tasks, considering resource, schedule, and risk factors.
- Develop and deliver pre-silicon test hardware, automation, and test reports for assigned areas.
- Develop and deliver post-silicon test, automation, and test reports for assigned areas.
- Investigate technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and propose solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and improve automation and hardware solutions used in validation.
- Contribute to relevant department documentation.
- Participate in peer reviews for scripts and hardware.
- Collate, summaries, and present validation data for technical reviews.
- Automate standard lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and audio analyzers.
- Dedicate time to learning and development in technical and professional areas relevant to the role.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
- Good knowledge of analogue and digital semiconductor circuits.
- Good knowledge of lab test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, audio analyzers, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
- Familiarity with emulation-based testing using C.
- Proficiency in test automation using scripting languages such as Python, C, C# and R Language
- Familiarity with data analysis methods and tools.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision on assigned validation tasks.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements and project priorities.
