The Role: Manufacturing Quality Lead

As the Manufacturing Quality Lead, you will ensure customers of Manufacturing (internal or external) are represented internally and receive what they need, when they need it. You will deliver this by developing and maintaining QA and QC systems, processes, training, and tools for the manufacturing team that enables them to deliver to the customer ensuring that customers of Svante’s Manufacturing Team are not just satisfied, but rather “loyal brand advocates” that lead to repeat business and greater market penetration.

This role specifically addresses gaps in the internal manufacturing process to ensure the robust production of SAB in a dynamic start-up environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • You have a degree in mechanical, industrial or materials engineering.
  • You have experience deploying quality tools and systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • You have a robust understanding manufacturing QA & QC tools and their purpose/function from first principles:
    • An ability to convey how they deliver value, quality, and reliability to the customer.
    • APQP/NPI, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC.
    • Control plan development.
    • Change management.
    • Document control.
  • You are familiar with ISO 9001 standards.
  • You have a strong practical understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • You have a strong understanding of GD&T.
  • You have an understanding of lean/continuous improvement principles and their practical application.
  • You are familiar with developing electronic tools and processes in the context of quality with support from IT.
  • You are comfortable with data analysis, SPC, and related software.

Bonus Skills and Qualifications:

  • Membership of ASQ is an asset.

What success looks like in this role:

  • You will deliver & maintain QA & QC systems, processes, & tools for the manufacturing team
    • Collaborate with the Director of Enterprise Quality, and the Product Department Quality Leader to deploy tools and processes while representing the needs of manufacturing during the development of these tools
    • Gather the VOC and translate to measurable, controllable requirements

  • You will facilitate decisions if a product is fit to ship to the customer (directly, or indirectly), or if it needs to be reworked, or rejected with input from stakeholders
  • You will oversee offline quality inspection processes and training including specification and management of major inspection equipment and environments
  • You will investigate all MFG customer complaints, NCRs and issues
  • You will have ownership of First Time Right, First Pass Yield, and Yield metrics.
  • You will do final product quality inspection and approval release owner
  • You will collaborate with MFG Engineers to deploy MSA (measuring system analysis) activity to support the production team’s delivery to the customer
  • You will drive root cause analysis activities and the implementation of systemic corrective action
  • You will develop, lead and support a Manufacturing Quality Team
  • You will implement and manage change in a systematic manner
  • You will define product and quality processes to support the implementation of ISO 9001 framework
  • You will ensure manufacturing quality processes adhere to the enterprise and department’s standards
