Purpose of the Role:
As a Mechanical Engineer Co-op, you will be participating in the design of RAM products and components incorporating the latest technological solutions developed by Product Engineering.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- You are currently enrolled in a undergraduate degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or similar field.
- You are proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), SolidWorks/Creo or other CAD software.
- You have knowledge with process validation and quality management systems.
- You are familiar with manufacturing process development and/or automation.
- You have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis.
Bonus Skills and Qualifications:
- You have experience using practices such as Lean, D/P FMEA, Design of Experiments, SPC (including Mini-Tab), Kaizen, 5S, and others.
- You have experience in Cobot/robot, Python programming, and PLC programming.
What Success looks like in this role:
- You will develop and optimize manufacturing processes: Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- You will learn a culture of continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing, statistical process control (Six Sigma), and other methodologies, to identify and eliminate waste, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency.
- You will investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective and preventive actions to address quality or process problems.
- You will learn to analyze of manufacturing processes and equipment to improve efficiency and reduce machinery downtime, as well as research and implement potential new equipment for manufacturing.
- You will learn reliable safety control systems for safeguarding automated equipment and other high volume manufacturing equipment.
- You will create and maintain process control documentation.
