Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Consultant, Corporate Insurance to manage Svante’s insurance program. In this role you will oversee maintenance and renewal of Svante’s various insurance policies, in addition to coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate insurance for Svante’s operational needs. Currently identified policies include commercial general liability, property and equipment for Svante’s world class manufacturing facility in Burnaby, E&OE for our technical professionals, D&O, Cyber as well as temporary construction coverage.
This is a part time or fractional role, ideally suited to an insurance industry professional applying their experience to advising and assisting multiple private companies on their insurance needs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- You have a university degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field.
- You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate insurance, risk management, or financial forecasting.
- You posses strong knowledge of insurance regulations, OSFI and BCFSA guidelines, and enterprise risk frameworks.
- You have experience managing insurance renewals, claims analysis, and vendor assessments.
- You have proficiency in developing dashboards, reports, and insurance cost models.
- You have certifications such as CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional), CRM (Canadian Risk Management), or equivalent.
What Success looks like in this role:
- You will strategically align insurance policies and practices with Svante’s organizational goals and risk appetite.
- You will maintain Svante’s insurance portfolio, working closely with brokers and underwriters to ensure timely acquisition and renewal of all legal agreements.
- You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess current and future insurance needs, and with external partners to benchmark industry standards and comparator company practices.
- You will proactively investigate emerging risks and insurance trends in the CCUS industry to support Svante’s position in a rapidly evolving space.
- You will lead risk-related discussions to uncover needs and develop mitigation strategies that support business continuity and resilience.
- You will interpret data, assess exposures, and deliver actionable insights that inform insurance decisions and risk management strategies.
- You will ensure accuracy and clarity in all documentation, reporting, and forecasting related to insurance and risk.
- You will report regularly to internal stakeholders, including the Board, on risk assessments and insurance coverage.
- You will actively participate in Svante’s organizational Risk Management process, driving continuous improvement and proactive risk mitigation.
