The Role: Material Chemist Co-op
Who are you?
This material chemist coop takes personal responsibility that, at all times, he/she repre-sents Svante Goals and Values to internal and external customers and suppliers.
Customers:
- Senior chemist_ New sorbents & testing
- R&D director of sorbent-on-roll and VP
- R&D Coating team
- Collaboration company
Suppliers:
- External Vendors
- Team-lead of characterization
- Supply chain
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Comply with the heath and safety policies; maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment.
- Follow lean culture of Svante.
- Conduct lab work on sorbent, especially organic sorbents, development & synthesis for carbon capture application, slurry formulation, laminate coating and characterization.
- Document experimental record, observation, data analysis and summarization.
- Conduct pre-industrial scaling up organic sorbent synthesis works based on bench-scale results.
- Assist in external material development collaborations.
- Present work results in written and oral format by means of technical reports.
Key Qualifications:
- 3rd or 4th (in chemistry/polymer chemistry/organic chemistry or relevant majors).
- hands-on experience in academic or industrial lab setting on organic synthesis, radical polymerization, and/or post-modification on polymers.
- Ability to work both independently and with cross-functional teams.
- Flexible attitude to work time when necessary and ability to organize, re-prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Good time management and detail.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to lift at least 25 lb.
- Experience with TGA, ASAP2020, BET, FTIR, SEM, XRD characterization techniques is an asset.
