Twelve is a new kind of chemical company built for the climate era. Our breakthrough technology eliminates emissions by turning CO2 into essential products. We are a team of scientists, engineers and problem solvers on a mission to fundamentally shift the way the world addresses climate change and lead the transition to a fossil free future with our carbon transformation technology.

Twelve’s Plant Design Team is responsible for the internal engineering function within Twelve and works with EPC contractors for the engineering and construction of demonstration and commercial plants. Plant Design falls within the Plant Development organization, which is responsible for the design, execution, construction, and operation of Twelve’s operating plants. We work closely with both Business Development and R&D to implement and scale up our technologies.

Job Brief

In this position, you will be responsible for achieving a techno-economic Plant process design utilizing electrolyzers and other process technologies to capture, process, and convert CO2 into CO syngas to then feed a Fischer-Tropsch Gas to Liquids hydrocarbon plant. As part of the Plant Design Team, you will work closely with engineers, licensors, operations, researchers, business development, and external EPC partners to develop the safest, most cost effective and efficient process for our next commercial plant.

You are going to lead the process design throughout the project life cycle and ultimately support the continuous and safe operation of our Plants.

What You Will Do

  • Champion Twelve’s Process Safety and the development and design of safe, operable and reliable plants

  • Develop process engineering documents by working with other engineers and designers including process simulations, PFDs, HMBs, P&ID’s, general arrangements, equipment installation details, and process calculations.

  • Manage, and lead EPC companies, vendors, engineering companies, and subject matter experts to design and build large production plants.

  • Collaborate with R&D and business development to integrate improvements to Twelve’s core technology into commercial process designs.

  • Oversee design decisions around process optimization, technology selection, and other key conceptual phase activities.

  • Provide direction and lead the development of equipment data sheets, relief calculations, cause & effect diagrams and control narrative, and other detailed process design engineering documents produced by EPCs and engineering contractors.

  • Champion the implementation of Process Hazardous Analysis.

  • Lead and implement Process Optimization techniques for utilities availability, storage, material efficiency and human safety, while integrating complex vendor packages.

  • Develop and implement dynamic simulations, process modeling and Digital Twin Plant. Conduct deep data collection and analysis, trouble shooting DAQ systems and implementing Advance Control Systems to ensure accurate and reliable process monitoring and optimization.

  • Assist with plant start-up activities and support the continuous operations of our Plants.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or related STEM degree

  • Experience with process scale up and process design for petrochemical plants.

  • Specific experience with Fischer-Tropsch technology, hydrocracking, reforming, upgrading and other similar operating units is a requirement.

  • Experience in dynamic simulations and process modeling software such as Aspen Plus, HYSIS, ProII, or Aveva Process Simulation. Hands on experience in developing and implementing Digital Twin is a requirement.

  • 15+ Years experience working as a process engineer in an engineering firm and proven experience in operating a petrochemical facility.

  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
