Job Position:
We are looking for an isiZulu Content Reviewer. Working at Ubongo won’t be easy, but it will challenge and excite you with lots of responsibilities, plenty of fun, and give you the opportunity to impact the lives of millions of kids every day.
We’re looking for a dynamic, creative and flexible isiZulu Content Reviewer to support our Adaptation department with good quality content reviews in isiZulu for our content. You’ll work closely with our ADAPTATION MANAGER to greatly help to rapidly boost production, and ease the workflow in adaptation in South Africa and across the organization as well.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ADAPTATION
Main Activities:
- Review of translated texts and songs, and other productions of the organization from English to isiZulu for our Ubongo Kids, Nuzo and Namia, and Akili and Me content as well as any relevant metadata content.
- Review of audio and/or video files adapted into isiZulu provided by the dubbing partner.
- Maintain the standard of Ubongo scripts for both dialogue and songs: energetic, rhythmic, emote, age appropriate and professional.
- Review translations with an “edutainment - mindset”.
- Participate in translation review and quality control processes as per the timelines and platforms of review set out by the Adaptation Manager, the translation partner and the dubbing partner.
- Update reviewed isiZulu dubbing and adaptation content on google drive and physical hard drives where available.
- Liaise with Adaptation Manager, Adaptation Sound Engineer and dubbing partner to ensure smooth processes for content delivery.
- Maintain efficient communications and progress tracking systems with Ubongo.
REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIALS:
- A degree or qualification in Education, Early Childhood, Translation Studies or similar field.
- Fluent in both English and isiZulu (isiZulu native speaker with knowledge of different South African dialects/languages is IMPORTANT).
- Proven experience in translation and/or language education.
- Experience teaching pre-school and primary school children, or working with children in education is an added advantage!
- Ability to learn new software as needed.
- Experience with G-suite and Google Drive and/or other online file storage systems.
- Creative, organized, flexible in project management, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Self-motivated and possess a high level of responsibility to complete tasks in a timely manner.

- English to isiZulu translation experience
- Excellent understanding of South African Primary School Curriculum implementation

- Excellent communication skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
