Our show’s Ubongo Kids and Akili and Me currently air in 23 countries across Africa, in Swahili, English, French, Kinyarwanda, Kikuyu, Luo, Yoruba, Hausa, Chichewa, and Juba Arabic.

Job Summary

The Digital Intern will support the Digital team in strengthening Ubongo’s digital infrastructure by contributing to large-scale content migration, organization, and core digital operations. This role involves uploading, organizing, and conducting quality assurance of video, audio, and learning materials on AWS, ensuring that all digital assets are systematically structured, easily accessible, and accurately tagged with high-quality metadata aligned to established standards, ultimately contributing to a robust and efficient digital asset management system.

Responsibilities:
Support content migration and Organization in AWS

• Upload Ubongo’s full inventory of finalized and compiled content (video, audio, and learning materials) to AWS using the Ubongo Uploader
• Ensure all files are correctly structured, consistently named, and properly categorized
• Maintain high standards of organization and quality across all uploaded assets
• Test and experiment with uploading large project files to identify system constraints and optimization opportunities

Ensure completeness and quality of content metadata

• Populate, review, and verify metadata for all uploaded content
• Ensure metadata is complete, accurate, and aligned with established standards and taxonomy
• Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or errors in metadata and take corrective action
• Work closely with the Digital and Education team to ensure metadata alignment with Child Learning Journey Curriculum

Digital Asset Management

• Support the consolidation and backup of all content (including working project files) across teams onto AWS
• Assess and test plug-ins or tools that can improve upload/download speeds for large files
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure all assets are securely backed up, accessible, and properly organized

Qualifications Required

• Ability to work on a computer for extended periods
• Comfortable working in a digital/office environment

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Analysis or a related field

• Exposure to digital tools, file management systems, or basic software workflows (academic or personal projects acceptable)
• Interest in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) and AI tools is an advantage

• Strong attention to detail (especially for metadata and content organization)
• Basic technical literacy and ability to learn new tools quickly
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
• Clear communication (written and verbal)
• Ability to gather and synthesize user feedback
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to support team needs
