Position Description
As Principal Process Engineer, you will be responsible for growing Via’s manufacturing capabilities and increasing operational efficiency. You will oversee the production of Via’s proprietary membrane modules, drive timelines and KPIs for new technologies in the development pipeline, negotiate with suppliers and manufacturing partners, and work as part of a cross-functional team to deliver products that exceed customer expectations. This role has enormous potential for growth as the organization scales and headcount increases.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive manufacturing timelines and delivery schedules, both internally and with external partners. Own and report on key manufacturing metrics.
  • Work closely with Via’s manufacturing partners to maximize product performance, enable yield improvements and enforce quality control measures
  • Work closely with R&D and Product Teams to transition new products and processes to scale using Stage Gate Process
  • Design new equipment and processes, optimize current processes involved in the manufacture of Via’s membrane components
  • Identify and qualify second source suppliers and manufacturers
  • Research and implement tools and methods to make processes more efficient and cost-effective (e.g. 6-sigma)
  • Troubleshoot issues during production and mitigate any post-manufacturing performance issues
  • Manage component manufacturing budget and timelines
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for the organization’s manufacturing operations

The ideal candidate will have some, if not all, of these qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or similar, with 7+ years relevant experience
  • Strategic thinker willing to roll up your sleeves
  • Experience working within high performing, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to execute effectively with limited guidance and incomplete information
  • Previous experience successfully delivering on complex projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills
  • Some travel (up to 20%) may be required
  • U.S. work authorization is required for this role
