Title: Corporate Development Associate

Segment: Voyager - Corporate

Location: Los Angeles, CA (preferred) or Denver, CO (preferred); Remote (considered)

Job Type: Full Time - Remote

Company Description: Voyager is an innovative defense, national security and space technology company committed to advancing and delivering transformative, mission-critical solutions. We tackle the most complex challenges to unlock new frontiers for human progress, fortify national security, and protect critical assets to lead in the race for technological and operational superiority from ground to space.

Position Description: The Corporate Development team at Voyager Technologies has the most interesting job in the deep-tech sector: We lead Mergers & Acquisitions activities for the most interesting Defense & National Security and Space Technology companies in the world, and we create strategic partnerships with other leading-edge, fast-moving startups and global corporations.

As a Corporate Development Associate, you will conduct research on areas of the market into which Voyager Technologies is considering expansion, evaluate the capabilities of potential targets within that market, research previous M&A transactions, maintain a pipeline of potential opportunities, value businesses, and assist in due diligence and deal execution.

This role is most similar to an associate-level position in investment banking, private equity, or strategy consulting with slightly more focus on deal execution and less emphasis on creating outward facing marketing materials.

Responsibilities:

  • You will perform deep research and analyses critical to developing a thesis on a particular market, technology or company. Preference will be given to candidates that are familiar with the Aerospace & Defense landscape, although fast learners from adjacent sectors can catch up quickly.
  • You will summarize your research and analyses into thoughtful, well-written, well-formatted PowerPoint decks and investment committee memos suited to a senior executive audience.
  • You will perform financial modeling and can pull comparable M&A transactions and public comps and assemble valuation models (primarily discounted cash flow and sum of the parts) with the ability to run scenario and sensitivity analyses on critical inputs that drive a particular business case.
  • You will obsessively take meeting notes, summarize findings and action items, and draft internal memos that track progress on internal and external initiatives.
  • You will learn Voyager Technologies’ business top-to-bottom and regularly interact with colleagues and senior executives across the entire organization, but especially within the technology, products, legal, and finance teams.

Requirements:

  • You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in investment banking, equity research, private equity, venture capital, or management consulting.
  • You are intrinsically motivated and relentlessly proactive. We do not wait for colleagues that can’t keep up and have a strong bias for action. We would rather tell you to slow down than speed up.
  • You have a strong analytical aptitude. You think about problems in terms of numbers and models and can execute complex analyses quickly in Excel.
  • You have a proven ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects.
  • You are comfortable communicating broadly across the organization and having lots of eyes on your work product. This role can at times require comms to large groups and senior leadership, but this is something that excites you and motivates you to do your best work.
  • You must be able to manage extremely confidential projects with very sensitive information and always exhibit excellent judgement.
  • You must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Secret-level Security Clearance.
  • You must have the ability to travel 10% - 20% of the time.

Preferences:

  • Located or willingness to relocate to the Los Angeles, CA or Denver, CO metro areas.
  • Experience working in a technology-related sector, specifically Defense Technology or at the intersection of hardware & software.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000/year
