Job Summary:
Working as part of the Communications and Marketing team, the copywriter generates content in a fast-moving aerospace and defense environment. This role is built for a communicator who thrives under pressure and delivers high-quality work at speed. The role is responsible for translating complex technical, national-security and space programs into clear, compelling communications across media, digital, executive and internal channels on tight timelines and with high visibility. This is an individual contributor role for someone who can handle volume, velocity and accountability.
Responsibilities:
- Develop high-impact written content across formats—including presentations, white papers, technical explainers, thought-leadership articles, advertorials, executive communications, website copy, email campaigns, and social content—tailored for customers, policymakers, investors, and internal audiences.
- Translate complex aerospace, defense, and mission-critical technologies into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders while reinforcing brand positioning and market differentiation.
- Proofread, edit, fact-check, and validate all copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with corporate standards, security considerations, and regulatory guidelines.
- Incorporate stakeholder and SME feedback with precision, maintaining message discipline, voice consistency, and editorial quality across all revisions.
- Cultivate and maintain deep familiarity with Voyager’s products, programs, capabilities, and strategic priorities, ensuring all content reflects current technical accuracy, program realities, and business objectives.
- Partner closely with engineers, program managers, BD teams, and executives to gather insights, extract technical detail, and translate program milestones and capabilities into customer-ready messaging.
- Ensure all content aligns with corporate brand guidelines, A&D protocol considerations, and the company’s mission-ready voice, while contributing to the continuous evolution of messaging frameworks and content standards.
Required Qualifications:
- A+ work ethic to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- 5–7 years of professional writing or content development experience, ideally within aerospace, defense, technology, or other highly technical sectors.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences: technical, executive, investor, policy, military, and commercial.
- Exceptional AP Style writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong command of grammar, structure, tone, and storytelling.
- Experience developing content across multiple formats, including white papers, presentations, briefs, articles, scripts, digital content, and executive communications.
- Demonstrated ability to work with engineers, program managers, and subject-matter experts, extracting technical detail and turning it into accurate, layman’s high-quality content.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to verify technical accuracy, adhere to compliance considerations, and maintain confidentiality where required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and modern content workflow platforms (e.g., collaboration systems, project management tools).
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with aerospace and defense terminology, acquisition frameworks, and industry communication norms preferred.
- Experience in innovation, trend, promotional, experiential and social media
- Experience supporting publicly traded companies or investor-facing communications
- Background at an agency, newsroom, or high-growth company with rapid turnaround expectations
