The Sr. Product Manager is responsible for the commercial lifecycle of assigned battery cabinet solutions for data centers, enterprise, and related markets from product concept through end-of-life. The role includes ownership of the product roadmap for assigned products and ensuring alignment with stakeholders both internal and external. The role is customer facing as well as the primary sales support contact outside of the sales organization.

The Sr. Product Manager is expected to work with cross-functional teams including sales, marketing, applications engineering, program management, R&D, engineering, and customers to translate business opportunities into Market Requirements Documents (MRD) and ensure that the product roadmap is executed within the ZincFive product lifecycle management process. The position reports to the Director of Product Manager and may be worked remotely from home or onsite at ZincFive headquarters located in Tualatin, Oregon.

Sr. Product Manager – BC Series Job Duties:

  • Conduct market research and competitive analyses; bring the voice of the customer to the organization; generate product strategy as well as working with the applications engineering team to develop product concepts and MRD’s for roadmap projects
  • Develop and maintain product roadmaps through working and aligning with multiple stakeholders
  • Analyze customer and market needs and business challenges and direct the appropriate future product direction to business management
  • Work closely with the team to ensure that product requirements are understood and communicated to stakeholders for final approval prior to execution
  • Support program management to ensure on-time delivery of specific milestones and prevent project scope growth beyond requirements
  • Provide guidance to all levels of sales, marketing, and engineering staff on technology and industry related issues
  • Apply in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and non-standard situations
  • Quickly adapt to fluid situations and keep focused on delivering on goals/commitments
  • Support the ZincFive product lifecycle management process for all product management and marketing deliverables in each phase gate
  • Ensure that product requirements are understood by all stakeholders prior to execution
  • Strive to understand others’ opinions and build agreement among team members; utilize others’ ideas and suggestions to shape solutions rather than open-ended conversations
  • Act as the product evangelist to build awareness and understanding through conferences, industry events, and publications
  • Utilize marketing skills to develop position statements; feature- advantage-benefit statements; product pricing; collateral content and business cases
  • Work with engineering to develop and maintain all sales training material for assigned products
  • Create and execute sales training programs for direct sales and channel partners
  • Create and execute new product launch plans as well as promotional programs for existing products in coordination with all stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain all sales tools and marketing collateral for assigned products
  • Act as the primary resource outside of the sales organization for sales support on assigned products. Coordinate timely responses to sales inquiries with other team members and organizations as needed
  • Support digital marketing and PR requests for assigned products

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, electrochemistry, or equivalent years of experience
  • Experience in market research, product definition, and developing competitive advantage
  • Experience in battery and DC systems for backup in data center, enterprise, and related markets ranging from kW to MW power levels and including battery cabinets, battery monitoring systems, and UPS integration.
  • Experience with multiple battery chemistries and exposure to greenfield and brownfield data center projects
  • Experience writing product specifications including product concepts, marketing requirements documents, and data sheets
  • Experience in technical product management involving senior level stakeholders
  • Strong presentation skills to create and present to diverse audiences including technical and executive levels
  • Experience managing relationships with internal and external customers
  • Excellent writing, grammar, and spelling skills
  • Experience in MS Office Suite and MS Project and various software applications
  • Strong communication skills and well organized
  • Ability to travel as needed up to 25% domestically and internationally

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Advanced degree
  • Experience in data center DC backup systems
  • Battery, monitoring systems, and UPS technology experience
  • Experience supporting full product life cycles
  • Demonstrated superior written communication skills

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Work involves sitting, standing, occasional walking, and lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Requires the ability to travel by air, car, train, or bus
